View Full Version : Countess runs for Hrs
are countess runs your best bet of getting a hrs, or was that changed/nerfed? I've done it a few times now, and haven't gotten higher then a Dol
and is there a specific mob/area that has a greater chance of dropping +1 skill charms then other area's?

Countess is great for low/mid runes. For high runes, don't expect much, especially if you're just going to do it "a few times". She can drop up to Lo, so if you want higher ones, you'll have to go elsewhere.
i was lucky i was running counteness about 5times and found mal :) my first 5runs :)

I've gotten Mal twice in the last few weeks from the countess.
But the average is probably around a shael or so.
Someone had a spreadsheet with all the odds and how many hundred thousand times you would have to run the countess to be able to cube to a Zod.

I have god aawful luck with countess runes but great luck with keys...can usually get a key every 5 runs, but the highest rune I've ever got her to drop was a Lum and in 7 runs today I've gotten two keys, but on three of those runs I got ZERO runes and the other runs got nothing higher than Ort. Meh, you win some, you lose some :wink3:

How many players in the game?
I believe more players means more keys but few runes.

Why would it mean less runes
Getting even a Pul from countess might take quite a few runs.
If talking about finding hrs, then go run high monster lv areas such as pits/mausoleum/ancient tunnels.
when i got my mal after the 5runs i was so happy so i did just like play counteness a houndred times but then my highest rune was lem =-)

its better to run in 1 player games because you get i think 3 runes instead when in 8 player you only get 2.

I was the only one in the games.

Basically "no drops" can be runes. And the more people the few "no drops".
Therefore the fewer "no drops" the fewer "no drops" than can be runes.
Hopefully Orphan will wander by and explain it better.
well..i found one time a Mal rune and the second time in way to countess it dropped from a blood clan an um rune..:))so happy

The Countess has the possibility of dropping 5 regular items and 3 special rune drops. First, regular items are generated until a "no drop" event occurs, then the same is made with the special rune drop. The more players there are in the game, the lower the no drop chance is, so with enough players, the Countess will drop 5 regular items (nearly ?) all the time. However, there is also a cap of 6 items in total and the regular items are determined first, so if 5 regular have dropped, only one special rune drop is left, resulting in less runes.
BTW, the special rune drop stops at Ist. All other runes come from the regular rune drop which is just as good as for other super-uniques which means it's not worth to go to her just for HRs (as with any other super-unique). With respect to runes, her regular drop stops at Lo which is quite bad, but she is just an act 1 super-unique, after all.
