View Full Version : BowSin/Trapper, anyone had good exp w/ this build?
I'm debating on remaking my wwsin/trapper or now I'm thinkin of trying a bowsin variant next.
I watched some of videos of a nice bowsin whipping a**, and it looked like a fun build. But if you look at the dmg, it's just marginal, therefore being a less than competitive dueler amongst overpowered builds. I've planned out 4500 trap dmg (191 pvp w/ 75 res) and 1600 venom dmg (70 pvp).
I would run 70 fcr (65 is 10 frame brkpt) if i went the nigma route using fade. Or I could use bramble w/ add'l psn dmg and run BoS.
Anyone got any advice regarding the better armor setup?
Is this a viable build?
I think a ww/trap hybrid with Widowmaker on switch would do much better. A bow/trap sin would have more of its trap syngeries maxed with a nearly maxed venom and good prebuffing gear. b/t sin would likely use the bow skill to keep people at bay while traps over power their opponent. b/t sin might have to use more shadow skill gcs to get vemon/fade and high lvls for psn damage and dr unless using w/s. Try looking up on a kicker, bow, trap hybrid.
I guess a more focused question would be whether venom/bow dmg is even practical when compared to ww. I'd like to keep a cta on switch as my bo lvl is low (and short) cuz of alot of +assas skill gear. WizAdept appeared to use a bow pretty well in one of his vids, but it looked like a long drawn out process. Although, I guess it comes down to who your duelin.

Venom's duration is 0.4 second. So you can at best apply venom twice in one second. It's similar to an 8 frame attack. When you use a bow, you can reach 9 frame with bos on (correct me if I'm wrong) so it's close. In one ww, you may land 4 hits in a row. However, you're likely to deal venom twice only as one ww probabaly takes around one second.
The advantage of using a bow is that you can deal damage even when your opponent is offscreen. It's a lot safer (vs ww barbs) and you need to do less chasing (vs sorcs). However, you'll probably need a w/shield or c/c for blocking. For a kick/bow or ww/bow hybrids, that gives you the option of attacking when you're opponent is up close. For a trap/bow sin, all you can is run probably.
In terms of vesatility, a ww/trapsin with a bow on switch is probably a better character than a bow/trapsin.

Swift, not played vs any good trappers then?
Any Trap hybrid shouldn't be defensive, and any decent pure trapper shouldn't be defensive.
Hell, on my pure Trapper I namelock-tele most characters, just because they are running towards you and dont except you to go towards them. Also a free Shadow-Master hit, which is surprisingly effective...

Good.....or suicidal?
Running toward a bvc or a liberator or a vindicator is a suicide mission. Vs casters, ya namelock tele all the way.

No, one of the best ways for trappers to beat barbs is to pressure them intensively. The trick is to maintian constant MB, traps, and stay about 3/4 of a screen away from the barb. Too close for him to want to run and regroup, too far for him to actually reach with a whirlwind. He cannot tele because of the MB. This generally leads to a lot of damage before the barb gives up and breaks off. If the pattern is repeated again, the barb will almost certainly die, 7k life or not. This also works very well against WW/Trapper chars, altough the trapper has to be VERY careful not to locked themself, or their MB will stop and they will eat a WW.
