Well I've never had the urge to use an asssassin, but after a mf run with my summoner dropped 2 pieces of natalya's odium and a bartuc greater claw, I've decided to start an assassin.
To cut a long story short, i've read through the guides and decided the lighning trapper is best suited to my playstyle (i hate clicking too much =). My question is, with only one source of primary dmg, is the build hell viable? And are there other assassin builds that are reasonably hell viable (links appreciated). Thanks in advance for any feedback

Oh and one more question, there seems to be variants in the light-sins as well. Which build would be considered the most effective?

If you want to break immunities, you'll need an act-2 merc armed with Infinity runeword. The lvl 12 conviction won't break immunities on all monsters, but for many. The merc should also be able to deal some phys damage on monsters that are still 100%+ resistant after conviction, or perhaps you could wear the WW Chaos claw and try that ww/lighttrapper hybrid.
If you don't have enough $$ (D2 currency), you can consider to max Fire Blast, which is recommanded by many experienced sins here before Infinity is available :). For cheap set-up, you can give your Act2 merc a Insight Polearm. You then have unlimited mana for you to spam LS/DS, mind blast and Fire Blast :)

Mana is not a problem, so i guess i'll be shooting for infinity then. What about DS? Should I max that out? Thanks for feedback so far
For me, I find DS very useful. It increases explode range as you put more skill. It can sometimes blow up corpse 2 screens away :). Plus, it is a synergy of LS (12% increase per hard point in DS).
