View Full Version : mid lvl kicking hybrid?

Although i dont nhave the equpment for it, hybrid allround assas have always been my favorite pvp char. With the crit strike bug gone, and the uninterruptability on fof/boi/col likewise, i feel the time has come to play a kicker/trapper instead.

this is my idea on a build: Its foundation is based on:

1) Allround dueling - even the odds as much as possible - she must be able to duels barbs aswell as sorc's with equal efficiency.

2) Damage is focussed through open wound, crushing blow and venom - secondary is kicking damage

3) not really expensive, although in order to perfect it you would want some serious wealth, especially charms.

Dragon talon: 20 (this is our main attacking skill)

Venom: 20 (very powerful against mid levels, and is easily applied with the fast attack of dragontalon)

Fade: 14 or 20 (20 means less points in DT)

BOS, WOF, LS, MB and SW: 1 point each

Now obviously, as a hybrid we will be geared towards allround use, which includes FCR, mana, runspeed etc.

Weapon: The Gnasher hand axe when using BOS, "UM" socketed bartucs or +3 MA/1-3 DT fast claws when using Fade. Another option are rare +2 MA/fools claws. I dont believe you kick fast enough with the axe.

Armor: Shaft - or when dealing with casters, 4 sock armor with life.
Shield: 3 socketed of deflecting
Helm: Guilliams
Boots: Gorerider
Belt: perf. string when wearing BOS, else a caster bloodbelt with nice stats
Ring 1: Raven
ring 2: angelic/soj
amu: angelic/+1 with stats or res all
Gloves: Trangs

Charms: run/dmg, dmg/life, mana/life, fhr/dmg, and shadowskillers with life or fhr.

if you get enough shadowskillers to have lvl 35 fade (and ofc. lvl 35 venom which is awesome) you can wear string and not worry about shaftstop, but instead pick a more allround armor like 4 sock of the squid/whale, or vipermagi for the skill and faster cast to reach the 42 FC BP.

As for socketing, i have no idea. On the shield, i might imagine rare jewels with ED or min/max+7 fhr or dmg goes to mana. DMG to mana might be very useful with the leech nerfed. Does ed or min/max dmg increase kick dmg??

so lets boil it down:

speed: 7/2/2/(2)

damage: no idea, expect around 600 i suppose.

poison damage: ~1200 with lvl 44 venom which is the max achievable with this setup, minimum is ~675 with lvl 28

Hit recovery: guilliams is 30,(and bartucs too, if you go with those) but more is up to you.

Runspeed: gores+bos is enough, but when wearing fade i suggest an extra 30-50% depending on your enemy.

Faster cast: anywhere between 20 and 50%. I suggest atleast 30% from previous hybrid experiences

Open wound: minimum is 35% with um claw+gores, max is 85% with um gnasher and gores.

Crushing blow: minimum 45%, max 65%
AR: with angelic and raven and decent charms, 12k is not utopia.

life/mana: impossible to tell, but i would say anything between 1k-1.5k is acceptable. More is probably possible. Mana should be atleast 500, but 750 is adviceable.

Oh, and this is most certainly NOT a guide, but an idea. Im just a newbie with a good imagination, so what are your thoughts?

2 frame follow up kicks are impossible. I know you looked it up most likely, but the info is wrong. In my limited experience, short kick sequences are better, but Wizadept uses long ones, and he's one of the best kickers. Just something to think about in terms of how many points you add to DT.

Crushing blow is ineffective in dueling for the most part. Sure, sometimes you get a big hit in, but most of the time its a waste. I think Peasent might trump Guillaumes here. Also the socketed armor with Life or Deflecting is very, very rare and expensive for a char like this. If you go the 7 socket route, 7 poison facets could take your venom to the next level, with +35% poison damage and -35% poison res, both good.

Thx for your needed input.

I like your idea of rainbow facets, especialle if theyre die. Monstrous psn damage. Do the die charges stack?

Also, theyre not really that rare, ive had both for my lvl 37 assa back in 1.09. 59 life 4 sock mageplate and 3 socketed kite shield of deflecting. Compared to something like fortitude or dragon these are very cheap.

iirc ilkori (forgive me if i spelled it wrong) had a lvl 41 kicker guide, if you wanted to look at it to get some better info or other ideas, he would be the man to talk to :)

On a side note, im pretty sure that min/max doesnt work with kicks, so you'd be better off using ed jewels (i guess lol).

Well, as for the socket items, I think the situation has changed a bit. At least on my realm, US West LAdder, a Jmod Monarch of Deflecting is both very rare and very sought after.

I don't think the die charges stack, lvl 200 psn nova would be a lil much.

There is a fantastic kicker guide that can help you plan your char at the top of this forum. Great info.

Hard to beat +3 shadow//life amulet and +3 shadow//life//2 os helmet.

Friend of mine has lots of experience with lvl 49 kickers. The only thing is that he uses kind of 'cheap' equip, which I find not optimal.

Yea i also used to have a +2 shadow, 20 life 2 sock helm with my 37 sin (max possible at that level)

HappyAssassin, its just about patience really. This is not a monarch, its a kite and artisan is the one we're looking for. I shopped all mine (helm, shield, armor aswell as a near-perfect ferocious greater talon of evis) in little more than a week. Granted i did it 24/7, but yeah.

Also, i didnt mean level 200 spell, i meant 7 level 40's or something.

No, only 1 lvl 40 spell will be released of one element.

Btw; 20 life isn't the max on that level. Look at the first circlet in here: http://homepage.kub.nl/~s245619/wubenitamz.jpg

It has 42 life and the jewel isn't adding anything.

That is because it is a circlet. Mine was a grimhelm. Thats the difference.

Ah, what's the point in using a grim helm then? Or is that a really dumb question.

I only duel lvl 49; so I'm kind of ignorant on the other 'levels'.

Bash_

well because it was magical, and in 1.09 rares could only get 1 socket. After some calculations i decided the grimhelm was the best choice, until i could get my hands on one with +skill, faster cast and good mods.

I finally settled for a +1 all, 20 fc, some dex and mediocre life which i gave a 30 ed/ 18 min dmg rare jewel (both mods used to work back then.
