View Full Version : building ww/ wof hybrid
so i've successfully created my ghost build now i want to try a fire variant. was hoping i could get some constructive criticism on my build although its looking pretty good to me right now.
Skills:
20 venom
20 wof
10-20 claw mastery
1 clawblock
1 shadow master
1 fade
1-? mind blast
1-? blade shield
rest into synergies for wof
Gear:
+2 sin visionary(%ar on lvl) circlet (hopefully i can find w/ 20fcr)
dusk enigma
maras
ravenfrost
rare ring w/ 1xx ar, 10fcr, life, res
rare boots w/ fhr, str, res
spider
trang glove
umed bartucs
greater talon chaos w/ +3venom and df
cta and spirit/ lidless switch
9 shadow lifer gcs
from calculating with my gear i should achieve over 4k life, max hell resistances, 3.8k ww, 50fhr, 70fcr, over 60% weapon block, about 1k+ fire traps, about 32 dr w/ fade (possibly more if i ber circlet), ect.
i was hoping i could get some help with the mb and blade shield skills points. i'll have +23 skills on shadow tree and +14 in traps tree.

Looks exactly like a WW/Lightning Hybrid but with wake. Looks quite good, i see your signature Bartucs in there, so I won't bother arguing the usefulness of that particular item. :azn:
As for mind blast, you should put 2 points in it imo. One hard point more than all the other shadow skills will cause your shadow to cast it much more often. Personnally I find blade shield quite useless, its only useful in a very few situations and even then most of the time there are other ways of doing what it does.
The thing I'm worried about here is absorb. Think of how easily the average hybrid's lightning traps are absorbed. Now, your wake will do quite a bit less than a fire trappers (shadow gcs), and most fire trappers give up not because the char isnt viable but because a single dwarf ruins their damage. I don't mean to turn you off of this build, because it is original and cool.
As for your extra skill points, I think you should look at your Dr situation. You have 23 from fade (actually, counting a lidless/cta switch, 25) and 8 on nigma. 33 total, which will not be enough. I use a Ber Rune in my circlet, which costs me fastest trapping. Personnally, I think this is a good trade (if you have a 2soc, disregard that). Even then, you have 41, still a 'lil low. If you have extra points, I think Fade is a good place to put em, as you'll make 50Dr and get a bit more res stack.
I know you're on NL, have you considered using a legit 1.08 Valk? Might loosen up the Fcr situation a bit (you could use angelics for Ar or a BK ring for more life/skills along side your raven).
Lastly, be careful with Ar. It will be low as hell on this char as far as I can see, either superior stunlocking or an Ar switch (or both) are a must.
thx for the suggestions. i'll definately do ur mb suggestion. some ppl say max it but i think i'll be fine w/ +skills. i know the DR is gonna be a little low. i was thinking about putting some more pts into fade but i think 40% will be enough for me. as for blade shield i thought it might be a good place to put pts into since i'll have quite a bit more extra skills pts extra than my ghost build. my ww dmg will have to be quite a bit higher with this build since my traps will be doing mainly just stunlock. i hear bs can easily help add an extra 1k dmg to ww. i would use a bramble but w/ enigma i get more dr, +skills, life and can use a spirit on switch at higher lvls + way more mobility.
as for the .08 valk.... to get a legit one is realllllllllyyyy hard. i only know 1 person with one and he will never trade it. they cost somewhere now in the range of like 160 sojs/ HR or something close to that. i think if i can get my circlet i'll be fine and make the 65% fcr breakpoint. the ar situation will be somewhat low by wwsin standards, but i think i'll reach somewhere around 7-8k with this setup. i always got cos to help me out with the rest as well. i might invest in a metalgrid for higher defense opponents since i'll need the fhr from bartucs.
once again thx for the suggestions. :) i'll get to work on relocating some of my skills points.
order i left you a PM, but im curious to see how this build would turn out. Ive always liked the stunning power of fire traps over lighting but the lack of dmg they do... i dunno..
since im using an enigma i'm going to try and figure out a nice way to make up for the loss of dmg from not using a bramble. brambles just give too little mobility when compared to enigma. i may make a new thread once i get all of the gear and finish building. remind me in a couple of days to post my ghost guide. im in the process of finishing it and it is quite helpful as well. i did try PMing u back but ur box is full. please clean out :).
oh heh okay its clear :-)
