WB Vs. Shield?

Hi all,

Which is better, Weapon Block or Normal Shield block??

For that matter, is WB good for anything? I mean I can get a plus 2 to all skills with Bartuks but I can get plus 1 to skills and resist with a good shield.

So why use 2x weapons?


Note: I am playing a trapper so weapon damage isn't a concern.

Note2: Sry for the noob question but I'm new to the Assasin character and the FAQ did not cover this.

Well, what would you prefer. 75% chance to block most melee/ranged attacks (like ww,zeal,arrows etc) or 60% chance to block almost everything (including smite,fireballs etc).

A pair of +3 trap claws will give you +6 to traps, also if they have any other good mods like + to LS, DS, CBS, etc. or stuff like IAS then they are just that much better.

If you have a high level character in hell shop Anya for some +3 trap claws, they can take a bit to find but I think that they are well worth getting.

I went dual clawed on my first two assassins. Then with my sorceress I had a shield.

You all know where this is going don't you? Yep: GLOAMS in the WSK.

The sorcy was getting fried big time even with 75% chance to block; the 'sins only had about 15 points in Weapons Block with +skills but managed so much better. It was only later I found out the claws block so much more.

I am building a kicker next and I think I will still have dual claws lol.

Well that's good to know. I Guess that Weapon Block Is a little better.

A claw trapper can also get much more damage than a weapon shield assassin.

only use a shield if you want the fcr from say hoto + SS or spirit combo. even then it isnt worth the dex to get your block to 75%. if you do go shield your life total should make up for the lack of blocking. i dont recommed going claw trapper unless you have the finances to buy trap claws with mods such as ias or +ls. in general claw block > shield block.

Claw block is almost always better. If you're hurting for resists use Jade Talon and Fade or something.
