This is a question mainly for my skelliemancer, but it'll apply to other characters too.
I've restarted playing this game after a very long time (okay, have been playing with a number of characters for two weeks now), but it's time that I get my Skelliemancer some MF-Gear. (Ladder USEast is where I play)
Now the problem with the Skelliemancer (Sonekkid) is that he's very poor (actually I am too), and I am looking to improve him a bid and use him for MF-ing. (He's still just level 44 or so, but he's pretty good at clearing all areas he's in untill now (Just finished act1 Nightmare).
Now the question, what is some good MF-equipment for the really poor.
(I've got three perfect topazes, and a number of other perfect gems (4 pDiamonds)

You could build up your gem stash for now and trade for low Nagelrings and possibly even Chance Guards. Though those topazes would be most at home in a 3-socket crown. Combined with a 4-socket gothic plate, that makes for... let's see... 168% MF. Not too shabby considering you're just starting out again. And a Rhyme shield or head isn't too hard to make: Shael + Eth and that's an additional 25% right there.
PS, loving the character's name :D

Well thanks for the advice. I've got a single Shael and the other runes I have in great supply.
Sonekkid is now ... lvl 50-something, would it be worth to use an exceptional head for the Rhyme Runeword, or should I be a bit more patient and find myself a good Elite one ?
On another train of thought... when does a Skelliemancer run into trouble actually, the only place that was like hell to get through was the Arcane Sanctuary, and that was because I couldn't cover myself well enough with my minions, then again, that could be a sign I should start to spend more of my statpoints. I've only given myself enough to be able to use equipment.

I don't know what you mean by "exceptional head", but rhyme can only be made in shields.
Since you play on the realms, you should try lvling in baal games instead of self lvling since you'll be able to get to higher levels quickly without having to waste any of your skill/stat points.

I think he's referring to exceptional versions of necromancer shrunken heads. I'm not too sure on this one, really, best to just make Rhyme in a head that spawns with + to Raise Skeleton and Skeleton Mastery. From what I remember, they only appear on low level heads, i.e. the normal versions.
You might get it by repairing a cracked/low quality exceptional or elite head using the Horadric Cube recipe (either El + chipped gem + low quality item or Eld + chipped + same, not too sure but it's one of the two). Again, I'm not too certain on this one. At the very least, though, you will get MF, resists and a little block % (horribly low as it is) from Rhyme.
As for the Arcane Sanctuary, don't worry, it really is the bane of all Summoners. That and the Maggot Lair. Not much that your stat points can do to help there. Best to tackle these areas alone (on BNet) or with /players set to 1 (singe player) so that it won't take a billion years to clear. Try to shop for a sorc staff with charges of Teleport on it (should appear when you hit ~level 24, I believe), that might make life just a little easier. Good luck!
