I have 20 extra skill points, level 81. current skill distribution:
20 skel. mastery
20 raise skeleton
6 skeleton mage (yes, yes, i know...)
15 revive
1 each in:
dim vision
attract
confuse
amp
corpse explosion
summon resist
all the golem stuff except fire golem
My goal with this character is to load up on as much MF as possible and let the skellies/merc kill stuff. however, they are slow as heck. also, after i switch to all mf, skeleton mastery will drop, meaning they will be more fragile and weaker (currently getting around +11 to +15 skills).
possibilities:
a. increase the range/duration of the curses i have
b. get more curses
c. make a golem (probably 10-15 points, rest in golem mastery)
d. or...?
as a side note, do you guys max out summon resist? elemental damage is just about the only thing that hurts my guys.

1 point in Summon Resist is fine. +skills will boost it to a decent level. If you're untwinked, then 3-4 in Summon Resist is fine, but no more than that.
As for killing speed, two words: Corpse Explosion. Max it. The radius becomes huge. After your army produces a corpse or two, blow it up and watch the enemy ranks crumble.
Golems and skeletons recive their stats when you create them.
So switching to mf gear will not affect them unless you summon minions with mf gear on. Many use Arm of Leoric and that +3 necro shield as pre-buff(on switch) and mf/res weapon/shield while killing.
Perhaps throw a few points in CE to increase your radius and equip your merc with more crushing blow.
If you have problem with ranged monsters, why not use dim vision untill your minion reach the monster. Adding points in Summon resist wont help you much, cause of diminishing returns.
If you are rich you could also give your merc Bramble armor, I have read the thorns aura from bramble togather with amp works pretty nice. Havnt tested tho.

Works very well. Both USBserial and rickcarson have reported an awful lot of success with it.

agreed :-P I use Edge runeword bow that gives level 17 thorns aura on my act 1 rouge merc. I use this over an act 2 might merc cause thorns POONS all high damage mellee monsters such as lister, duriel, etc
Could use a Act 2 might merc with Bramble. Get both might & Thorns. Or you can do like my ladder necro does. Act 1 merc with faith/edge & bramble. Last wish in my hand for the might aura. Fanat, might, stacked thorns + amp = ouch.

Doesnt a iron golem give thorn aura?
And if yes, if u make a iron golem with a eth insight, would he get thorn+medit?
Cuz if yes, ill suggest that auras setup : might/defiance merc with pride+tal mask shaeled + eth fort (he will have good dmg, resist, leech, nice auras for u) and use beastz for ur necro (give more ias/dmg/ar to ur summons : speed problem?).
Doesnt a iron golem give thorn aura?
Iron golem does return damage but it only works for the golem, no aura.

Use a beast weapon...my skeletons kills so much faster with it than without it.

give yourself a beast weapon, give your merc a Pride weapon and a bramble armor.
EDIT...already been said...oops ;-)
Any suggestions for those of us whose highest runes are a solitary Ist and solitary Vex? IE cheap ideas please.
Edit: @ Stompawompa LOL. You unhand my runes :teeth: I thought the Ist was an Ith and someone spotted the vex in an mp and gave it to me as I was hosting. I love single player

well that Ist can probably get you the full trang set and maybe an AoKL. And the vext could get you quite a bit too...
My hightest run is an Um...so you're better off that I am ;-)
