Ultimate Elemental Damage Weapon?

Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone knew which weapons might give the highest amount of pure elemental damage? For the ranged weapons I'm pretty sure it is Gimmershred, but I'm not sure about weapons. If anyone has any suggestions for either unique or runewords, let me know. I'm hoping to make myself a badass elemancer sometime soon and I'm not sure whether to go ranged or melee.

Famine has pretty sick elemental damage.
For uniques, Azurewrath, BStar, Gimmershreds all stand out.

i think the ik maul gives the most of any weapon, but you have to use the entire set (which becomes a catch-22 situation, as you then can't add more elemental damage through jewels in helm/armor.)

Yes, I see what you mean about the IK set. Around as much damage as Gimmershred (not counting magic damage, which doesn't really help in my build anyway). But there's the issue of 4 slots being taken to get that damage. Might be feasible for a melee version, but would need lots of sockets for the various facets.

have you considered the colossus xbow Hellrack, it has 2 sockets

For ranged, I'd say Hellrack is a pretty good choice. Might be a tad slow though.

Harmony bow is also a good choice if you want ranged elemental damage. Make it in a fast bow.

Hmmm....hellrack. Just doesn't seem to do as much pure elemental damage as gimmershard. Even socketing it with a couple big damage jewels won't get it high enough. Right now I'm leaning toward gimmer since it will also give me the advantage of using a shield for resists, summons or even some more damage. The big downside is that you might keep running out of them.

Harmony is an interesting choice for a bow, because it has some desireable goodies to help make up for the (relatively) poor elemental damage. Just to be certain, the Valk that comes with it is for anyone, right, not just the amazon?

Do you even think that such a low lvl Valk would be worth it? I was thinking an act 2 merc, poison nova and skele mages.

If you have a whole wack of summons, one more Valk wouldn't be too much of a help, considering the annoyance of having to repair it often.

Well, I would have quite a few summons, but none of them would be tanks. Really, my only tank would be my merc. I COULD invest in a clay golem, but my build is REALLY point intensive and it would hurt the effectiveness of my mages, or my poison.

How many HP would the valk have anyway? Would it be able to take more than two hits before it died?

Between 480 (level2) and 640 (level6).

Yeah.. it would take a bit more than 2 hits to kill her.

Clay golem has a lot more life, and can slow down monsters, etc. it's only a 1 point investment, and I consider that better than higher damage from mages/ poison.
