View Full Version : poisonmancer, viable in hell??
1) I built a summoner with full trangs, +3 ammy, rare rings, and was very dissapointed of the outcome, I couldn't kill anything in 8 player games hell, I couldn't even kill my first monster to start summoning. Perhaps it was my gear or the fact I didn't have a merc, but anyway I lost interest right away and was thinking of building a poisonmancer for PvM and perhaps PvP with poison nova as his main skill. He would have very expensive gear and be a damage based caracter. Bramble, death's web, trang gloves... So I wanted to know if this caracter could easily play alone in let say act 4 of an 8 player game in hell??
2) On another topic, I was thinking of a build where I would go poisonmancer/CE. I would max all 3 poison skills and also Corpse explosion. I'd go for 1 pt in curses. Basically, my main attack would be poison nova and secondary would be CE (also good for psn immunes). Would this work? I know it's pretty mana intensive but besides that??
Thanks for the input.

I have a psnmancer on USEast ladder, and he does great, both PvP and PvM. To be successful in PvP you MUST use an Enigma and a Fire Golem. Bramble is nice for the extra damage, but you won't be able to last long enough in a duel. Bramble is fine for PvM though. Good luck with the build, I enjoyed it, as it is pretty rare to see, and if your on East ladder, msg me (account name is same as here) and we can chat and I think I might have some extra psnmancer gear.

Poison necro is great for PvM. The secret is having loads of -% enemy poison resist (Lower Resist, Death's Web, Facets, 3-piece Trangs, etc.).

For a summoner, you absolutely need a merc. Also, to solo 8p hell requires some decent amount of gear, regardless of build (even that fabled lamerdin).
Anyways, poison necros are perfectly viable, and can kill pretty fast. For 8 players, you do need some gear. You also need a merc and/or golem to wait out the enemies and let them die, unless you are using 20/1 skeles among with your poison.
A skellymancer does need a merc to get things going. The auras your merc has can benefit your army as well. You could even make a poisonmancer with skeletons/mages/revives to assist your poisonmancer even. If you're lacking the means to afford real high end items, then that might be your best way to build one.
what's the potentiel highest damage for poison nova?

with 5/5 facet shako, 2x SOJ, trang belt / gloves / shield, 50% Bramble armor, 2/1 Deaths Web (41%), 5x pnb GCs, + Maras I was throwing around 9000 to 9200 poison dmg over 2 seconds. If you throw in another two facets, change the wand for a 2/2 D Web, and go with a +3 pnb ammy you should be able to break 10k poison dmg. Anni and torch may be good for another 1.5k on top of that.
How's poison nova againts the cows, can u solo in a 8 player game??

How's poison nova againts the cows, can u solo in a 8 player game??Yes. Cast Lower Resist and then cast Poison Nova. Recast when the timer runs out. The cows fall pretty quickly.

Poison is very viable in hell...and really don't need a merc except for only a few areas...because LR and PN does everything. Most of the time you don't need to use LR because of how effective PN is...especailly when oyur using a death's web compared to the other wands.
Although I've used bramble armor in the past ladder...I like engima for my venomancer this season.

Okay, last question which might sound noobish but is it possible to use poison nova as primary attack, you know you got your bottom left and bottom right skill tabs, I'd like for psn nova to be on the left one and LR on the right, but I'm not sure if its doable, it's like the game chooses for me which skill I can use on each side.

Poison Nova can't be on the left side. It must be on the right side, which means you'll have to do some skill switching to use Lower Resist.
ah crap, another interogation came up, but I'll make a new thread out of it.
