I know that a unique item cannot spawn in a game twice, but how about, for example, unique rings? Say the game is going to spawn two unique rings from a boss, will they be two DIFFERENT unique ring or one of them will turn to rare?
And will be rainbow facet do the same thing with rings?

AFAIK, it IS possible to drop two of the same unique item in one game IF both of them come from one drop.
Basically, what happens is that the game rolls ring, then rolls unique, then roll in the list of unique rings based on rarity to get, lets say, Nagel Ring. The game then checks to see if the Nagel Ring was selected in any previous drops. If not, it drops the ring. Then, in the same drop, the game again rolls a ring, unique, and it come Nagel again. The game continues to check in the same old list of drops, which doesn't include a Nagel, and allows the drop. Once the drop is completed, the list of past drops is updated to include the Nagel as a dropped item and it cannot drop again in the same game.
For rings, it goes like this on seperate drops (as I understand it): A Nagel dropped earlier. now you kill a monster, and the game selects ring - selects unique ->
1) selects Nagel - a rare ring drops instead
2) selects other unique - it drops
Applies to amulets as well. Not sure how jewels are done, though.

Iirc that can't work, it checks (and updates) the list with each item?

Not sure how jewels are done, though.
If rings and amulets works in the same way, I think jewels should be work the same too, as there are eight different rainbow facets...

Rainbow facet is still rainbow facet though, the psn/cold/lite/fire or lvl/die are just available mods to be picked from afaik on the same base unique. Don't think there are 8 separate instances of Rainbow facet.

I now hate D2 for not spawning two rainbow facets :censored:
Same here. I hate D2 too for that.
Glitching mercs, lags and the like are nothing compared to the disappointment I have due to that Meph can't drop 2xRBF at the same time...
Cheers.

In the end there can be only one!

That's only because with enough luck anything can happen. In normal gameplay it just doesn't happen. I've had a couple of drops where two of the same unique tried to drop, and the second was a failed unique. If a unique ring has dropped before, it cannot spawn again.
Xenon[KoA]: There are eight different Rainbow Facets defined, it's not just one unique with several alternative mods. As far as the game is concerned they just happen to have the same name.

How can you tell that a dropped item is a failed unique?
It has 2 or 3 times the normal durability.

[QUOTE=k/t]It has 2 or 3 times the normal spineripper.[\QUOTE]
2 times in magical items are failed sets.
3 times in rare items are failed uniques.
Now I will  when a x3 dur rare corona drops

I forgot who, but someone did a test with the failed uniques thing in single player. He made every monster drop a unique cap (and nothing but) and drop 3 items per kill. The drops were as follows
1st Kill: Unique Cap, 2 Triple-Durability Rares
2nd Kill: 3 Triple-Durability Rares
Point is, the one unique per game rule probably applies within the same drop as well.
Yep, Hrus did the test (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=453293) in stats forum. A unique cannot drop more than once in the same game, not even in the same drop.

Agreed. It cannot. However, what people sometimes observe when two same items drop in one kill, is a game bug, which happens from time to time. This is often mistaken for the ability to spawn the same unique more than once in a drop.

Well.. I'm sure some more sensitive and emotional players would lean towards suicide if they read somebody found 2 CoA's in the same drop:wink2:

Now we all know what's happening if someone is bragging off their 2 CoA or 2 heart carver/spineripper in the same drop :jig:
