If I have a lv20 conviction does this allow me to play on hell diff. with a much lower AR? I think its -90% to the enemys defence. And If I'm not wrong this works on everybody, including boss's. I can't activly think of any monster, even in hell diff., that has more than 2500 Defence. So conviction would effectivly cut there def. down to a few hundred, correct?

I've read that conviction and other -% skills work not on total defense but on the ed. So if the monster has 500% ed it'll be subtracted to 410, not 500 - .90*500 which is 50%. If it really worked that way fanat or blessed aim would be eclipsed. I don't know if monsters have ed or if I'm totally right, but I've heard this from quietus, who's a reliable source. So unless someone else refutes me, I'd say this is correct.

Ed can either stand for Enhanced Damage, or, in this case, Enhanced Defense. Most monsters, AFAIK, do not have ed, save those with the Stone Skin mod and the Ancients with Madawc's Shout skill. The rest have a set defense that is reduced significantly by conviction.
