I was curious what you all thought is the absolute best all around character/build without preference of gear or mercenary for beating every single mob with severe pwnage in the game? I know some say the blizsorc is a good MF'r and the fishymancer is a safe naked toon and WW barbs simply ownage in physical, but really...fun notwithstanding. Who do you think puts the game in the hurtlocker the most?
And no, this isn't a question as to what I should play next either as I probably have one or two good ones for every scenario like everyone else. Just spirited conversation.:flowers:
Newbie-ish opinion: I'd lean towards fishymancer. Mind you, I haven't tried many builds yet, but I've got an IK Barb, a Blizzsorc, and a Fishymancer of my own currently active along with a few others (Freezeadin, a MA-sin, etc.). My BlizzSorc was the first to see Hell. And how immune to cold half the stuff in Act 1 seems to be. A Fishymancer, on the other hand, has a fleet of skeletons and Amp Damage to remove any physical immunities he might find.
Definitely an interesting question when not put as a "omg wut build shuld i make?!?!?!11" post. I'd love to see some more replies.
I haven't played every possible build out there, but a dual element sorc seems to be the most well rounded killer. There's only a handful of enemies in the game that she can't kill, and assuming you've found a reapers toll for your merc, he makes short work of those few.
I prefer an Orb/Meteor build with max FM and FB. My baal runs take 7 minutes give or take a bit, which is fairly fast I think... Everything else is very fast. She has teleport as a built in ability. Not terribly gear dependand since her spells do her killing. (Although having gear for resists helps)
Hammerdin. Easy to get respectable damage, even untwinked, and very few monsters have magic immunites. Plus, he can pump his life to much higher than your typical sorc.

I gotta go with Hammerdin. My Meteorber ran into way too many packs of CI this mixed with FI that. My recent Hdin was swinging 5.3k hammers with pretty crap gear, and as long as I stayed out of that one filthy old reliquary/fane, NOTHING was immune. Concentration really helped Waheedís damage, too, and though itís not tele, the lvl 20+ vigor (a synergy) meant I sped around pretty quick. Pwnage to me also means not dying, and with paly shieldís inherent resists, Holy Shield, and 3 pts/vit, I rarely had any trouble.
OK, so maybe Iím biased because I just got my first Guardian with one. Woot!
