Why a Smiter for Uber Killing? [Archive] - Diablo 3 & Diablo 2 Forums

Hi,

Starting up my first Pally with an Uber - Runner in mind. These boards indicate a Smiter is best Uber-Runner. This is probably a dumb question - but what does the smiter have that is so special against these bosses? (Other characters can get crushing blow, etc.)

Smite hits every time, nothing else does. Any other skill and you have to rely on chance to hit. Well, I guess guided arrow hits every time too, but there is a penalty for ranged delivery of cb,

Auto-hit, unblockable, and it even does enough damage to keep you at full health with Life Tap on. Try getting all that with another character...

And it is fast. Also, Paladins have all these useful auras for resist, damage, knockback, etc.

Note that since smite always hits ,even a small amout of crushing blow will do the job. Rest of anti uber builds like to get ~100% cb to somewhat compensate the fact that they often miss. Smiters never really miss so excessive cb isn't required.

I don't know if this board really indicates it's the best, but I guess you mean specifically for pallies? In that case then I would agree. It sure is a good build for Ubering though no doubt.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Smite is the best antiuber skill in the game,not only among pallies,and this is not subject to debate.

I only use smite to bring down a boss, if said boss is alone... Smite has zero crowd control... Zeal is one of the best ways to kick the crap out of anything that swarms you, and it get's the life tap flowing in two or three clicks...

That's why I promoted zealots with 1pt in smite as ideal for those who want a complete pvm/uber runner.

Smite is the best skill in the game for single monsters with huge health, as long as you got enough crushing blow stacked etc. As said though, no crowd control. You are usually better off with maxed zeal, and 1pt-smite-wonder.

Smite is awesome because of its always hit and relatively fast attack speed with fanatism aura on. Not only that it can carry over many nasty mods like Crushing Blow, Open Wounds and Chance to Cast spells to its target. This makes it the prime boss killing skill around.

I recommend using only 1 CTC gear and that is draculs only, too many CTC gear will result in life tap not triggering when u need it. :/
