Check out some of the builds in the stickies..., or try battle.net diablo 2 forums and they have hundreds of build threads.
I've been thinking of writing up a guide for these guys, but I'll give you a quick list of some stuff to look at.
Take a look at the The Strategy Compendium (http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=551). I start every character here. Take a look at the FCR, FHR, and if you like FBR tables and pick the breakpoints your want to shoot for. For a FoHdin, I'd recomend the 75 FCR and 27 or 48 FHR, depending on your charms. 125 FCR is redundant on a FoH pally and you'd sacrifice too much resist and damage.
The primary problem the FoH paladin comes up against is people stacking lghtning resist/absorb against you. There are two remedies for this in my mind: having a strong seconary attack, or overwhelming FoH damage. This leaves you with two choices for your Paladin: pure FoH (Templar (http://http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=149687)) or a FoH/Smite variation (Vindicator/Templar (http://http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=284278).) Right now I'm using a pure Templar, and with the right gear it's rare to find an opponent that can consistently beat one, except for wind druids (which you will never beat. Ever.) That being said, the dedicated opponent can negate your FoH damage with enough gear, so having the ability to smite can come in handy. If you're very dedicated to high FoH damage, a Templar can be very viable, especially if you play public games where people won't risk stacking against you while they need higher defence to negate the town-guarding zon. If you're going to play more one-on-one duels, or really have something to prove against the 5% of people that will seriously stack against you, or are wind druids, then go for the Vindi/Temp.
Some other suggestions and first-try mistakes to avoid:
-Enigma is not required. I use a CoH for resists, and I have never found myself saying "I wish I could teleport."
-Only lvl25 Conviction is required. The skill caps at -150%, so plan your gear ahead of time and only put in the points you need. My conviction is only lvl 11.
-When socketing lightning facets, only one die facet is required. The ability only triggers once.
-Charge is a lifesaver. I use it just to get around all the time.
-For the love of God, Walk.
-If you duel public games, prepare to be hated. Nobody likes a FoH pally. :(
Here's my gear list. If you want to go for big FoH damage, this is my suggested setup:
Gemmed War Scepter: +3FoH, 5 5/5 Lightning Facets (+25/-25)
Griffon's Eye: socketed with facet (+20/-22)
CoH Archon Plate
HoZ (um)
Arachnid
+2 Pala/FCR ammy
2 BK rings
Magefists
Sandstorms
9 Pcombats
Anni
Torch
FoH damage = 8.3k-8.5k
The Griffon can be subbed for a Shako, and will be worth it for the life. The "FoH Stick" war scepter can be switched for a HoTO, which will give more resists and free up your amulet and glove selection somewhat. I'd take BK rings over SoJ. You won't need any extra mana, even without a CtA.
Hope this was of some help. Consult the guides I linked for more in-depth info.
^good guide
i especially agree w/ the point that nobody likes a FoH pally

If you dont mind , where did you put your extra skill points into?
question: why is fcr needed?
Im using enigma on my templar, not for the teleport which i never use, but for the faster run walk. But use, what u think plays best. If u like this resist on coh, (which is very good ofcourse) use that.

Holy shield and defiance, or smite and fanaticism for a secondary attack
