View Full Version : New to necros and interested in CE
had some questions regarding this skill. Appearently it has the most dmg potentiel of any other skill in the game. I guess the higher the life of a monster, the more dmg it does... Can someone tell me if all of the above is right??
what I want to know is what works best with this skill? I'm looking for something that can quickly kill one or 2 monsters then I'd just CE all the rest, I heard skellies are a slow killer, but they probly absob lots of dmg too as a plus side. So can anyone with experience tell me how he manages with this skill and can you do ubers with it??
thx

here is what i know of CE
it does 60-100% of monster life to dmg in x radius. x varies upon skill level.
the dmg is both physical and fire so Amp and Lower Resist would benefit dmg output. Decrepify would help, but it only does 50% bonus to physical dmg where as Amp does 100% (maybe higher?)
CE is the 2nd strongest spell in the game. Static is the 1st. This is because CE does not have the monster penalty that all other spells have. (read Nightfish's guide to CE/Summoner)
Since CE does a % of dmg based on life, a higher life monster will output a stronger CE.
Summoner/CE works wonders. i just made one and he is a killing machine. once you get a few skellies, amp monsters, then CE and watch crowds of them fall. if you max CE, your CE can even take out monsters 2 screens off. it is quite mana intensive tho, so have some blues handy.
Read the stickied guide called the Fishymancer, Nitefish's summoner/ce guide. cookie cutter killer.
from what i understand, a necro cannot solo ubers. he will help dramatically in group ubers however.
ok thx, and would full trangs be appropriate for a summoner/CE build?

It would be ok, but going with runewords/uniques is far better.
Ideal setup would look something like:
Enigma - +2, str, teleport, summon stacking
Hoto - +3, fcr, resists
Shako - +2, mana, life, dr
Maras - +2, res
Marrowwalks - +2 SM, str
Arachnid - +1, fcr
Sojs/Raven - +1, cannot be frozen, mana
For gloves either:
Forstburns - if you need mana
Trang's - + curses, fcr
Obviously this setup costs alot more...
One thing I'd like to add is that a merc with might will help out your skele's a lot. currently I have a maxed CE and am maxing Revive, both EXTREMELY mana intensive, so I gave my merc probably one of my fav. runewords in the game, the ever-famous Insight :D mana burn is a thing of the past!

i dont thnk a raven is nec for a pvm necro. being frozen does not effect fcr. and you'll be standing still casting curses, ce, and smmoning so moving slow is not a problem

If you need insight, make an iron golem out of it. Iron golems will stay even if you change games. Insight is a very cheap runeword anyway, if he dies its no big deal. Personally I never had any problems with mana.

True, but I don't like being frozen anyway. I guess its a matter of preference.
