Higher defense rating decreases chance to be hit by monsters.

1. Does it equaly imrove odds for melee and missile attacks?

2. Does it decrease amount of physical damage taken?

to decrease the amount of physical dmg you need to get items with damage reduce on it

What is the calculation of that?

In Hell, does a ring with "damage reduced by 2 " mean anything? Also HP's of monsters increase radically, so what is the point in having a shield with "attacker takes damage of 20"
