I'm about to buy the game and i wanted to know what the max level you can get to is. and after you get to the max level does the game get boring or is there still a lot of stuff to do?? if i play like 10 hours a week how many weeks would it take to get to the max level?

The maximum level is 99 (98 for mercs). For me, leveling gets boring at about 90.

The time needed to reach L99 depends on the way you are collecting XP. From about L94 on, only Baal, Nihlathak and Diablo provide significant XP. The quickest way to reach L99 probaly is to have a team of other players (or several teams) which prepare 8 player games for your character, so you just have to enter a TP, unparty and deal the final blows to Baal and Diablo. AFAIK that's how the ETF on top team made the first L99 character on ladder Europe in the second season. They still needed a few weeks IIRC.

Bear in mind you have seven classes and a multitude of builds within each class to try, so there is plenty of variety in that respect.

No idea how long it would take to get to level 99. I play SP and we can manipulate the number of players to give better experience returns.

well 1st have u seen this game played it is alot of fun the max is lvl99 which is pretty hard to reach most people only go to lvl 85-90. after you get high enough u can start doing magic finding and or dueling is fun. There is also key runs to do uber which dont worry about untill you get to about lvl 80 and you can always help others out and if u find your having a hard time u can ask other players for a helping hand in beating certain areas. if u do decide to buy the game start an accout in us east and make a non ladder chacter look me up ill help u out if i can my account name is dante-dog when u play go to the chat room and type: /w *dante-dog then mmessage it will tell if i'm on or not. hope that this was help enough info. if not just ask more questions there is alot of nice people more then willing to you out dante-dog

First decide if you want to play battlenet or single player.

If you decide to play battlenet then:

Join whatever server your best real life friends are playing on.

If none of your real life friends are playing diablo2 then make a character on all of the realms and try to get a feel for where the lag is least bad. Choose the server that seems to give you the least lag.

Make only ladder characters. It works out that there is almost no point in making non ladder characters.

This is generically true for someone starting out, however if they have a friend that only plays nonladder i would think hed want to play the same, in order to play with his friend.

Good, playing on battle.net is the only way to play (imo, different folks different strokes). You are limited to 8 characters per account, but you can have as many accounts as you want.

I don't think that is true, as far as I know they limit you to 10 accounts per CD key now. Still, thats 80 characters, quite plenty ;)
