View Full Version : highest damage wpn for PVM barb?

I decided to startup a pvm barb and am looking into what weapon would be best. I just got a ebotd war pike that does like 1400 damage or so, it's pretty nice. Think that would be the best way to go-- a polearm barb?

Or should I get like two ebotd swords or something. I'm assuming in PVM I just want the highest amount of damage.

What type of barb are you making - i.e. what attack? For whirlwind, a BotD great poleaxe does the most damage, thanks to the extra hit attempts per whirl.

2 Ebotd bersker axes would probably do better. Or you can try a zerk barb with a Ebotd t-maul for huge damage

So dual weilding ebotd weapons would be better in pvm than a polearm with huge damage?

Or how about ebotd swords?

no, 2 handed weapon deals more dmg than dual wielding. Ebotd GPA does the most dmg.

if dual wielding, ebotd + beast does better than 2x ebotd.

Because most barbs you see are not intended for PvM, and 99% of all barbs are crap. Also, some people consider block worthwhile in PvM, so they go EBotdZ+SS. Myself, my last PvM barb was a Eth Oath BB one with Arky and SS.

Shields are mostly used on Conc Barbs as they have no use for a second weapon, exept if it is a wizzy or something alike.

Dont go for dual Botd. 1 solves leaching problems, and with for ex. Beast you can get that nice CB bonus. A grief can also be considered.

The question is, should I go with WW dual weilding and switch to SS when I need it-- or go with frenzy?

Keep in mind, mostly PVM barb.

If you're going to dual-wield as a PvM barb, then there is no real reason to go with Beast. Beast is popular because of the damage/accuracy bonus to the main hand. In PvM, you'll be plenty accurate, and the mods on BotD (ITD, dual leech, and most importantly, INDESTRUCTIBLE) make dual-wielding them much more effective.

If you do want to PvP, however, then definately get the beast.

Whirlwind or Frenzy is up to you. Both are great for PvM, but Whirlwind is the only skill we have that is really viable in PvP as well.

Swapping out a shield is up to you; again, it depends on how you want to PvM, and if you'll ever want to PvP. Keep in mind if you use a shield (Stormshield), you'll need 222 dex at level 99.

Thank you, that's a big help.

I already traded for the beast, so I guess I'll go with WW for times when I feel like pvping.

Now when switching from PVM to PVP is there any other items other than enigma that I'll need?
