View Full Version : Max PVP damage for popular tppk chars?

I'm trying to figure out what the max PVP damage possible is for some of the characters that are being used for tppk. Off the top of my head I remember seeing iceblast sorcys, strafer zons, and hydra sorcys.
Any others? What kind of damage should I expect to be hit with from 1 volley?
Edit: Note that I'm talking about end-game damage, so at level 85 or so.

First, Traps and Hydras are considered minions; you can't TPPK with them.
It's not that difficult to come up with a reasonable assumption for a pure damage setup and go to a skill or damage calculator...
Cold Sorc:
8k-9k Ice Blast
15k-17k Blizzard
Bone Necro:
6k Spear
6k Spirit
Wind Druid:
7k Nado
Guided Zon:
16k max (with WF after Crit/Deadly, more like 25k if shes got a buddy with auras)

Thanks. I assume/hope that this is pre PVP penalty, right?

Before PvP penalty, resists, absorb, etc.

I ran a few calculations and it seems that the nastiest attack would be from the bowazon or the cold sorcy. I made some assumptions and I'd like for someone to confirm those for me..
Assumptions:
* The bowazon could affect you with up to 4 volleys of 16k damage each using tppk.
* The cold sorc could hit you with 5 ice blasts before you scoot out of the way
* The cold sorc could hit you with 3 shards of blizzard before you clear it.
* Victim will have 50% dr
* Victim will have enough stacked cold resist for the cold mastery to bring it to zero and not into negatives.
* Victim will have 20% cold absorb.
Calculations:
Bowazon: 16k dmg * 4 attacks * 50% dr * 1/6 penalty = 5333 damage
Bowazon w/ buddy: 25k * 4 attacks * 50% dr * 1/6 penalty = 8333 damage
Cold sorc ice blast: 9k * 5 attacks * 0 resistance * 20% absorb * 1/6 penalty = 4500 damage
Cold sorc blizzard = 17k * 3 attacks * 0 resistance * 20% absorb * 1/6 penalty = 5100 damage
So if victim has 9k health, stacked cold resist, and 20% cold absorb, he should be able to survive all these attacks.
Does this look right?

That looks alright, but you have to consider a few things:
1. The Zon damage I listed is max damage only. The damage range on WF is actually very wide; we're talking something like 1k-8k listed with maybe around 80% chance to do double damage. That puts the average damage at around 8k.
2. Most importantly, is anyone really going to stick around for all 3-5 hits of a given attack? I'd say ~3 Guided, ~3 Ice Blast, and at most 2 Blizzard hits would be more reasonable.

I'm going through these calculations because I'm trying to build a character that can survive tppk attempts. My main problem is my crappy ping, about a steady 300-500, which makes it impossible for me to react to a tppk attempt quickly. So, short of using anti-tppk scripts, which I refuse to resort to, this is the best option.
The reason I went for max damages on all is that I want to be able to survive these attacks comfortably, especially keeping in mind that I'll probably be standing still while the tppk attacks come in for at least 1.5 seconds. (0.5 second for me to see the hostile warning because of ping, 0.5 second reaction time, 0.5 second packet travel time back to server to get my char out of there)
I've already come up with the plan of making a werebear barb using wolfhowl + beast. I've tried him on single player and I can get about 8.2k health with 90/90/95/90 resists, 43% dr, 75% block, and still retain an acceptable killing speed.

you can't TPPK with them.
I'm nearly certain that Hydra sticks around after you go into town.

They used to nickedoff, until Blizzard patched it so they wouldn't. Next came blessed hammers.

Bone spear or spirit does _not_ do anywhere around 10k.
It was very, very good to have 7k even with the marrow glitch.

With 10k damage, the victim could comfortably take up to 4 hits. With 7k damage, he can take up to 6 hits.

Cold sorc ice blast can get up to 15k damage. I've seen it on some of the BMPK's sorcs.

15k listed damage? Or is that with mastery taken into account?

Sorry but I don't see how that's possible. With absolutely perfect damage gear I'm getting 13152-13462 dmg, but then you'd only have 60%FCR, which is way too slow to TPPK with.

Your average tppk sorc does 12k, and 35% from spirit, 20% from arach, 20% from fathom, 10% from 3 cold/fcr ammy = 85 fcr. I'm not sure about ib breakpoints, but it seems not too bad to me. Not to mention getting fcr from a 3 cold/fcr circlet, with 2x facets....
Dont think there are that many popular tppk chars.
Yes, i know what you mean.

look into a java zons too, they are close combat/ ranged, but cs damage can be as nasty as ~3k phy dmg + ~12k light dmg charged strike and about 4k phy dmg + 4k light dmg fury.... combo with 20/20 armor + griffons can be deadly from 1 hit too...

I don't think they apply here since we're talking about tppk chars.
