View Full Version : Whats the right char for me ?
I like to be powerful and able to do a lot with little help. Right now I'm playing an amazon (bow) and I like her a lot, back year ago when I played last I had a highlevel bowzon and a high level ice sorc, and I really liked how strong they were. I also had a fairly high necro with minions and I just hated it. I also didn't like the brute force characters (barb and pala).
I know virtually nothing about the druid and the assassin (although I don't think I'd like the traps crap), and I know equally little about the other necro skilltrees and the pala skill trees that aren't 'brute force skills'.
So I'd like to hear some suggestions on which of those classes I should try (and please don't say 'try all of them', I do have a life *g*). One thing though, please don't just say 'try the druid'. Give me a little bit of details, like what good skill specializations are.
Thank you in advance :)

For sheer power, the hammerdin is probably the best. With godly equip they are unrivalled, with midlevel equip they are still powerful enough to solo hell, rush, chaos, anything you want them to do. Blessed Hammer (synergies being concentration, vigor and blessed aim) is a virtually unblockable magical which reaches 9k easily and well upwards of 15k with the best equip. I'm not sure if you would consider that "brute force", being that hammerdins are casters, not melee fighters.
A build that can easily become even more powerful (to the point where TELEPORTING on top of a monster kills them) is the dual-dream melee sorceress. With dream in a helm, dream in a shield (giving you a level 30 holy shock aura), a beast or passion weapon, maxed lightning mastery and enchant for attack rating, you are a virtually unbeatable tank. With infinity on your mercenary really nothing stands a chance against on you at all. Expensive, but if you want the best, 60k+ damage at a pop is nothing to sneeze at.
With brute force I mean bludgening monsters in melee one by one :)

If you want to melee, a zealot is a good char to start off with. Easy to make and pretty straightforward build.
Perhaps you'd like a MA assasin. Even though they are melee builds, I personally find them much more interesting than your average zealer. You'll usually be playing two-handed (as in: you'll be using hotkeys often) with these.
I won't go into details about skill setups because there are guides out there that explain things much better than I ever could. Just look at the guides in the assasin strategy forum and see if any seem interesting to you. My personal favorite is the tiger strike/dragon tail assasin.

If you don't like the "brute" and don't care for the "stand back summoners", you could try the other Zon tree and go for a Stix. JavaZons do quite well with mediocre equipment?
