Crafting impossible in non-ladder?

I was told today that crafting is impossible in NL. I haven't found any references to this from arreat summit or these forums. I do not believe it :)

Could anybody help me with my suspicion?

That is a strange story :) I have pretty much only played ladder and was away from diablo for about half year and my lovely chars had all converted to non-ladder (luckily they were alive, i remembered to log in once in a while).

So... i join NL trade game with my very first diablo char, quite crappy bowazon, for trading away her charms. Some guy wants to see her gloves. I show them - crafted hit power gloves with standard knockback mod, 20%ias, 20+ lightning res, little life leech. Not bad, not terribly impressive either. Guy asks what i want for them, i haven't really thought about selling them and do not know anything about current prices, so i do not answer within few seconds. He gets impatient, puts one SOJ in trade window and claims trade accepted. I am VERY surprised and think to myself that SOJ duping must have reached all time high. But what the hell, i have never owned a SOJ and should have at least 3-4 other good hit power gloves left, so i accept the trade.

Conversation follows (not exact, recalled from memory):

He: ama, i love you :)
He: i just bought zon gloves worth 5 soj
*I think to myself WTF! Have i mislooked stats of those gloves?
I: hmm, could i please see these gloves once again?
*He comes and shows me the gloves.
*I check the stats - as i remembered
He: kb is very useful and these are with ias
I: Well, these are crafted gloves.
He: Yes, but you cannot craft on nl.
*I am confused
He: you nn ofc b/c you have wf
He: but for faith...
* I am still confused, but start to wonder what i could make by selling all gloves i crafted while on ladder...
I: k
I: well, i learn something new every day :)

I leave the game and go to check the regular resources and find no mention of crafting restrictions anywhere. It is possible that the guy just pulled prank on me, trying to get rid of some soj he knew was duped. I fully expect it to poof any time.

I also checked my craftmule and found 6 pairs of crafted hit power gloves with 20% ias mod.

Oh, i doubt a lot :rolleyes:. I do not trust my own memory, 1.11 patch, arreat summit, people on bnet... I would not even trust you, but i had already kinda made up my mind about that question and your answer fits my reasoning - so we can deem the matter resolved :sunny:

IMO you made a good deal.

First, crafting works on non-ladder. Second, getting IAS on hitpower gloves isn't that uncommon and the leech isn't that important because bowazons don't have a leech problem. Third, the guy was right about knockback being useless for you because of WF, so there are far better choices for you regarding gloves, like LoH. Fourth, you are happy about your soj and even if it's worth less than your gloves (which I doubt), you would have needed more time to get more for it and I guess it wouldn't have been worth the extra efforts.

If your gloves had +2 to passive skills as well, the case would be different, however...
