Heya, now this is just a concept that me and a friend have been thinking about for a while, and thought i would throw some ideas around with the people here.
The plan would be to get a group of people who love dueling and organise some duel games, if we got enough people we could start a tourney. If not just some 1vs1 or team duels following the basic rules i.e No Hp pots, NKing, or Gold grabbing.
As i said it just a concept at the moment, but it would be nice to hear about what you people would like, and who would be interested in this idea.

Sounds decent idea. Too bad I don´t have any chars that could even try dueling someone :)
If this would be on EUSCNL and without _really, _really_ stupid, _ep-ish_ rules (such as no teleport, low stack, no leap, no auras, no prebuff, no certain charms, same bo lvl on both switches), I could try something. Of course, this depends off a few things:
a) If I got the time
b) If I got the interests
c) If this is on EUSCNL
d) If the rules are not dumb
e) If the tourneyers are not total whineys
f) If this things really gets some players in it
g) If I remember this in the end
Well firstly Myself i play on ladder, but if more non ladder people get interested there no reason why it shouldnt be on nonladder aswell, and as the mention about the rules they wouldnt be stupid.
Just no things you see happen in public games, by which i mean
Hp pots
Running into town
Nking
etc.

Why are those question marks there? I think I made it pretty clear that if some people get one going on EUSCNL, I'm in. Also, I do not know when I have free time, at least not on 13.6.2006, as then I'm off to Estonia to a Metallica concert.

# The use of buff shrines, such as +2 All Skills, Mana Regeneration, etc, are strictly prohibited in all matches that take place in Duel Challenges.
# The use of Mercenaries during any Arena Ladder Match is strictly prohibited unless otherwise agreed upon by the duelists involved.

I think this is pretty pointless to point out, since I doubt anyone here using anything except maybe maphack.

Good, no more ES sorcs that run around with mana regen shrine, or someone getting killed by a fire shrine.

Mm.. This also seems pretty standard.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be able to join soon as I am building a new char in accordance with those "_really, _really_ stupid, _ep-ish_ rules (such as no teleport, low stack, no leap, no auras, no prebuff, no certain charms, same bo lvl on both switches)" :laugh: Dueling "druid style" with a barb sounds like a nice challange :-) High frw and so on:shocked: .
Thus, my current BvC will be stripped of his best charms for a while, luckily grief and beast will still be there (they are banned by that league as well) so maybe I will be able to join with a ghetto barb a bit later Or maybe with my bvc if those league duels prove dull or I grow tired of their strict rules.
Anyway, good luck with those duels :thumbsup:

Well when it is going to happen, depends on when people are available.
So if everyone leaves there accs, the people dueling each other can contact each other.

just see to it that everyone have time to duel befone we start another round, easier to keep track of score that way :azn: .
And what about char switching ?. i mean if i deside that i want to duel with a bvc and the other guy has a bvb, can i then change char before the duel starts or do i have to get slain ? some duels aren't even funny because one has so big advantage.

only duel capable char i have is my werewolf druid jc_thebeast so there won't be any character changing for me

Heh, I think you would have to stick with 1 PvP character. BvC V BvC can be fun/predictable if you equip your character with the right gear.

anyways i seem to have massive lag in most of the games i enter lately, dunno why but it not very much fun to duel in a game with lag-pauses.
Hope blizz fix this soon. (unless its just me.)

It isn't only you. I usually get lag spikes, and 2.5k-3k ping.
Yeah lag spikes been affecting me aswell.
Especially in Public duel games ¬.¬ Although can make for a interesting duel if two people are both lagging :rolleyes:

I had the class and level advantage (me being BvC and 11 levels higher than veilside's werewolf) so it was all unfair to him. Thanks for the great experience anyway :D

think i have to withdraw from this turnement :cry: i am remaking a pvp char and hope that would not take to long time.
I think I'll be finished with equipping my char today (Wednesday) afternoon. Just need to mule and socket some of my gear, and distribute leftover points. Hope I'll be all set for duels.
So, tell me please how do we play? 5 rounds?
Do I know what class I'll be playing with before the match or no?
If not, then I'll need to mule some extra things. :)

Let's make another tournament after this one, where all participants will donate some runes, and the winner will get all as a reward. What do you say? :)

Jokes. But sorry, MB lock is surprisingly easy to break if you know how. I do it all the time in Trapper vs Trapper duels...
And yes, a Trapper does require skill to play, anyone who thinks otherwise is just an elitest "my char is better than yours, you play noob char" stereotype. No character requires no skill to use effectively...:wink:

I'm highly irritated of the bnet status atm. I get kickbans often and with no apparent reason...Not to mention that monumental lag...
Just tried to duel some hammerdins and every time they come near me it starts lagging and i can't tp away from them and i die. I keep tp-ing in 1 place, not away from them. It pissed me off pretty much.
Don't know what's going on with FTJs and CIs also (in the last week or two). Looks like it's better do duel at 5am. :)
Also happens i can't make my own games first time I go online, and then can't use that char for some time after that.

Yeah I get all of those. Huge lag spikes,3.5k ping, c/i all the time,unable to create/join games just after first log in etc. Now I'm temp banned for no reason,tried to get online 2 hours after ban and I'm still restricted.
Im up for it, i have been looking for something like this. US EAST, Ladder account is ShadHoe give me a shout. But keep in mind, that i can't whisper you or use channels, i got muted for maphack over 3 years ago.

I have a "small" request. If anyone loses due to lag, can we not count that win pls! I really had little chance yesterday against those hammerdins (teleporting in 1 place and just waiting for the hammers to nail me). :(

I cannot play the game for more than about 5 minutes, then it gives the error, and after that the time just gets shorter, and in the end I can barely get to the game before I get the errors. Since it's the c0000005, I have no idea what causes it, except that it's got something to do with the few files mentioned in a topic I made to the 1.11 Bugs forum.
