Spock cuz he could manipulate the rules of the contest better than Data could.
Although Data did win that contest with those finger thingies by not trying to win. And the sucky doctor was impressed that a machine could beat a person at that game.

No not that one. It was some kind of game of logic where the interface was attached to the fingers. Dr. Polanski was the annoying doctor on duty for that episode.

you can't deny that Data is an uncreative retard for getting stuck in that thing though, plus Data was made by a human and wants to be more human, Spock strives towards logic

The chinese thinger trap was really early on wasn't it? When TNG was trying to copy TOS, so I don't think the scenes involving the trap were particularly consistent with the Data that eventually emerged during the series.

Data has more computing power but less creativity. It would depend on how much creativity it took to reach the solution.

I'm not overly keen on TNG full stop. I'm a Voyager and DS9 fan :tongue:

I wish I could remember more of the episode I"m trying to think of.
It had an uber annoying visitor that bragged about how good he was at a game and no had gone something like 27 moves with him. And he beat Ricker in under ten or something.
At the end of the episode the uber annoying visitor and data go head to head. The visitor gives up in disgust and leaves. Someone ( I think Jeordie) says that took 50 moves (not sure of the numbers), how did you do it? Data answers he saw he couldn't beat him so he tried to make sure the uber annoying guy couldn't win.
Then Dr. P gets Data to acknowledge, "I kicked his butt" or something to that effect.
In that case Spock.

Data is more Vulcan than Spock could ever be and Spock is more Human than Data could ever be, How logical is that? :laugh:
I think we'd all fall to sleep from boredom before one of those two could out logic the other one. In the end Spock could win by picking a most illogical subject of debate, Humans. Data's lack of knowledge on the subject would quickly doom him.
Spock would be doing really well until Data asked him "How do you feel?".
But in a contest of who is better, Spock would obviously win because Data is hella annoying whereas Spock rocks.

I've gotta give this one to data. He's so smart and thinks so quickly that he'd be 5 steps ahead of Spock.
And in that episode the Doctor was actually surprised that a human beat Data, not the other way around. If you think about it it really didn't make sense though- Data could have figured out all possible sets of moves and their outcomes. Realistically he should have been able to win.
