Hi!

The topic is opened. :)

I have just counted some things...

Glacial + Bliz 20-20.CM1
13+ allskill.

20 FB + 20 Meteor + 1 FM
14+ allskill.

Blizz:
Cold Damage: 2761 - 2891 (ø2826.5)

Glacial: Duration: 2.325 Seconds
Range: 2.6 Yards
Cold Damage: 465 - 491 (ø478.5)

CM: Enemy cold resistance: -85%

FB: Fire damage: 3957 - 4325 (ø4141)

Meteor: Fire damage: 9399 - 9801 (ø9600)
Fire damage per second: 1085 - 1142(ø 1113)

ORB 20- icebolt 10 - CM 10.

Cold Damage: 542 - 567 (ø555)

-135% coldres (help more against higher res monsters)

In that case which is better killer?

555 orb damage is very great but what about 2800 Blizz. (only with -85 coldres!)

It is the same invested points... But which more power?

e.g. solo Baalruns.. Pitruns, nothing just ACT5runs, etc...

2800 Blizz damage seems not too much if a think about that the ORB damage is 10x listed damage when ball path through the enemy (and 16x if exploses) but i know that Blizz can do 2-3* damage if enemy path through the coldrain and the radius is much more than the orb... and can hit more than an orb...

But against Baal i dont know which is better.

Using your examples. Hell Baal has 50% resist all.

Blizzard does 2826.5 with -85% enemy resist. On Baal, that works out as 2826.5 * (1 + 0.85 - 0.5) = 3815.8 damage per shard.

Orb does 555 with -135% enemy resist. On Baal, that works out as 555 * (1 + 1.35 - 0.5) = 1026.8 damage per shard.

You can stack Blizzard, and considering Baal is large multiple Blizzard shards will hit him. Lets say three stacked Blizzards, with three shards from each Blizzard hitting him, 3 * 3 * 3815.8 = 34342.

If Orb explodes inside Baal, and we assume 16 shards hits him, 16 * 1026.8 = 16429.

But you can stack Blizzard continuously on top of Baal, whereas Orb can only be cast one at a time, and it must explode inside Baal each time for maximum damage, which takes some skill in aiming.

The answer seems obvious.

It's fine but my experience is not the same... Unfortunately. :(

I stack meteors on Baal. That moron doesn't move, and takes like 10x fire burn damage.

Same for my meteorb, but my merc's infinity is key. Without the infinity, I kill baal faster with orbs; with the infinity, meteor is faster.

With all the souls running around at the end of act 5 I went with orb...clears 'em out very fast.

19K meteor, 360% mf (on main tab)...605% on switch and Baal's dead very fast.

lol :D

The key is - % resist from fire res :P

Of course baal with 50% fireres the infy and talorb does much more damage than other way.

infi:

50-85 = -35

1.35/0.5= 2.7x damage!!! (wow)

tal orb:
0.65/0.5= + 30% damage (wow too)

And for orb... i have 25 CM : -135% to coldres. :) That's why orb is better without fire res -%.

My question was: ORB or Blizzard beside Meteor? (20 Blizz + 20 Glacial or 20 ORB and 10 CM and 10 icebolt for example)
Without ANY RES-% modifiler!
Or with infinity:
20 Blizz 20 Glacial or 20 ORB 20 icebolt... with 1+ 14 CM.

In the first case Blizz damage will be 2800 (15 CM(and the orb will be 600. (25 CM)

Hehe.

But i know ORB is more popular with Meteor than Blizz with Meteor... :)

I prefer Orb

but who am I?

I prefer Orb also. Always have always will.

Just my preference.

i personally use fireball and orb to take out bosses or firebaal and meteor. I like the fact that I can throw 4 fireballs b/t meteors and 3 b/t orbs.

Why would you use two timered attacks when you have very powerful attack in fireball to fire off b/t attacks?

From this point of view Blizzard with fireball is more efficient cause you have 1.8 seconds to cast FB during 2 blizzards. :)

But my experience is that from ORB the non-cold immunies (but usually fire) are dead in 5-6 seconds, so not a hurry...

Against e.g. Baal it is efficient but 6-7 seconds are not the World.... You can easily get good position during the break time. :)

I tried use blizzard after orb and it was very boring... And not more efficient especially on hibrid sorc (blizz+ ball)...

So ORB is da BEST. :D

If i had infinity i would use fireball + meteor more often. Against non-cold/non-fire immunities. Ball is much more faster and can do more damage than orb if there is the same monster resist for cold and fire. But if a monster has 50 fireres and 50 coldres, orb with CM is more powerful than fire with half damage.

Not to mention that Orb looks pretty and requires no aim for general pvm. :p
Just release spam pretty ball of death in their direction and watch em drop

I disagree.
Well aimed it does much more damage.

And my vote goes for Orb too.

Cheers.

If you don't like aiming use Blizzard :P

that's nice in orb. The aiming. :)

Orb requires even more aiming than Blizz, in the more extreme sense.

There are 3 lvls to it:
lvl 1: Just shoot in the general direction, and it will hit a few spikes.
lvl 2: Aim it so the orb pass the target, more spikes will hit.
lvl 3: Tele/run to a specific distance to the enemy, release orb. 10+ spikes can hit with this technique.

lvl4: make monstas move to line and release an ORB destorys them. :D

Not only 1v1 situations are there. :)
