Anyone building Titan Barbs anymore?

Though I know my guide is out of date, I was sad to see it wasn't included in the guide list above. It should still be viable, I would think.

I've returned to D2 for a bit after an almost 2 year foray into SWG and WoW. I've been making a pit running barb and on my second run, I found an Ethereal Giant Thresher. Seems to me it would be the penultimate BotD weapon for a Titan barb. I'm way too poor for those runes, though, so I've posted it in the auctions. Danged rare drop if you think about it... top TC, small drop chance, and ethereal on top of that.

You mean barbs with full @ss of str for dmg, low life and lots of life leech???

Is this a kind of barb you call titan? If so - NO! No one makes them anymore. They are absolutly unavalable for PvP - as after 1.10 life leech is useless in PvP. And I believe they're absolutly unavalible in PvM, as now monsters are beefed up to compare with 1.09, so you'll be killed very fast havin crapy life...

It depends on your equipment. Most BVB barbs are titanish because damage > life in BVB. For pvm, you're looking at about 2.7-3k hp as a nice safe zone which is easily achievable with base vit if you have the right equipment.

Well, if you dig up my old guide in the compendium, I was pretty specific that it was in no way a PvP build... And, when you're doing 10k damage with WW and over 12k conc and 15K zerk, TONS of life leech wasn't required. For most Titans, the leech from a Arreats was fine. If I made BotD from that eGT, I'd probably get by with just the leech from it.

When 1.10 came along, my barb with the CWPoQ did fine as I had built it in 1.09. I miss the old guy, and the weapon I mentioned brought back a rush of nostalgia for my old Titan.

no titan barbs don't work well in pvm anymore (or pvp for that matter)

hell monsters just hit too hard and if you face hard hitters + amp/dmg aura you will die very quickly with 2k or less life

on the other hand pumping vit to extreme levels with a ww pvm barb is pointless as well

i prefer at least 200 base str

I seem to recall having 2.8k to 3k life w/BO on my Titan. I had about 20 18-20 Life smalls, and got lots of Vit from my equipment. I'm running the pit with my untwinked-lame-equipped MF barb right now with 1.9k life and doing fine.

I will admit I've changed my style from the old days. Before, it was rush up to a crowd and just WW straight through. Still do that with normal monsters, but when I get a pack with amp/curse, I "peel" off 5-8 of them by running up to them, then running away some so they're off screen, and only a few follow. Lots of times you can "split pulls" that way (MMORPG term) and even get some trash out of the boss' aura.

I made a titan last season as well (IK barb). Fragile but doable :thumbsup:

Well, sometimes, you had to put SOME into Dex if you couldn't hold your weap with just EQ stats... but into Vit was a no-no!

I think the tuner barb will do better than the Titan... But I'm really not sure....

But if you two-hands all strenght you really need defense and pdr.... As well as perfect res... Hopefully about 80-90 in fire and lightning....

I'm saving up for making one... I have a conc barb on ladder whos a great killer... But i really do miss my Titan... Uhh he was nice...

I dunno if you need PDR. I never used it. I had originally recommended TGods as a viable belt and that helped with the lit res/absorb/etc. Remember, the point was to do such constant high damage that leech kept you full all the time. The point of my original post was to see what people thought of making one now with a BotD eGThresher. I think he would rock, and look wicked as hell with that big scythe.

If you go titan you absolutely need damage goes to mana and damage reduction gear ,besides maxed resists that is...

I did make her, and got her to Act 1 hell. She was pretty badazs until encountering a PI or several. Then she pretty much sucked. I tried several different elemental damage pikes on switch but most PIs were also immune to a second school and it wasn't uncommon to hit a brick wall.

Normal zon's deal with this issue too, I know, but being melee, and low-life on top of that, it didn't work.

She ripped NM cows new ones, though!

I had experience with a titan build last season but the problems i found was that any mana burn creature usally spelt near instant death, also some areas i really struggled in, like Chaos sanctury cuz my life was to low to tank the dmg and one out of place WW means death to ironmaiden.

Also as ppl said with monster that are extra strong use amping etc it makes a difference and u prolly die fast.

As for pvp its useless as leech is nerfed badly and a typical barb hits around 5k life minimum so u would stay alive long enough.

so what would be the titan build if you discribe it from scratch here?

it might not be a good build but i like the odd builds a lot and i spend a lot of time perfecting them for pvm and possibly pvp...

The Titan:

Str: All you can put here
Dex: Enough for gear
Vit: None
Ene: None of course

There are many titan build types but a whirler seems to be the best:

20 WW
20 Mastery
20 BO
20 Shout
1 Zerk

The philosphy about the Titan is to kill faster than the foes kan kill you...

So because of the all the strength you get a massive ED% bonus and delivers crazy amounts of damage...

What do you guys think about a ebotd archon staff for a wep on a titan barb? 18 str req, no dex req, 600-738 damage, mana/life leech, what's not to like?

-base +10 so can't hit last ww bp for 2 handers
-barbs need 118 str for arreats anyways so the low staff req doesn't help
-barbs need at least one raven and barb torchs are cheap, raven + torch + arreats + base dex = dex req for ebotd great poleaxe or zerkers

that dmg is absolutely sexy
if you where get ALOT of lifers and life giving gear/high def.
i think this would be doable.
if only last wish could be made in a eGT; that would make this build pretty gg.:grin:

yeah eBOTD GPA and ghost spear work well

Sigh: Double angelic rings/ammy, ik set, some mastery gcs, and maxing concentration and you dont have to worry about ll or much else. Unless u p vs p, then that case I can't help you.
