Doom Runeword on Merc for Blizz Sorc?

My blizzballer has Cold Mastery to lvl 17, where the resist is -100%. If my merc is equiped with doom, that has -58% cold resist, will this break Cold Immunities? Or is -resist capped at a certain number? could someone please inform me with their knowledge on the subject.... thank you.

thanks. so getting a doom is just to allow another merc to get the holy freeze aura? kinda stupid imho.

Plus, neither cold mastery nor the mod "-%cold res" work on cold immunes. Only Conviction and Lower resist curse can break immunities. No exceptions. ;)
