Havent played d2 since 1.09, yer white rings, hex's you name it :D

Anyway, currently lvl 55, i want to make a PvM and i started playing 3 days ago and this is my zon so far:

str - 90
dex - 225
vit - 20
energy - 15
(without extras from items and charms)

Passive skills

inner sight - 1
dodge - 1
avoid - 1
evade - 1

Bow skills

magic arrow - 1
multi shot - 1
cold arrow - 1
guided arrow - 1

i think 47 skill points left
-None for Javelins-

Equip:

Lycanders aim
Skullders
Vidalas boots
Vidalas amulet
manald ring
cathans ring
Rare gauntlets (20% ias)
Rare bone helm
Hawanans belt

Ive read the stickys, and my heads spinning about Strafe or Multi and other skills...really have no clue what skills to max cause of the new stuff in skills...like maxing this helps this etc etc. Help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd max strafe and rely on +toskills items to pump multishot... chances are you'd be using strafe more often than not... the only times I ever use multishot are when strafe-lock could prove fatal...

I'd also consider getting Freezing Arrow (and its damage synergy, Cold Arrow) for the PI's, but some people get by without it, so depending on your situation, you may or may not get it...

getting a decent valk is also important... get at least lvl 17 in it

D/A/E could be left at their current level if you think you'd be getting enough +toskills to get them to a decent chance... people swear by 50% chance (that's lvl 12/7/12 last time i checked)

If you plan on using a razortail, get enough pierce for it to reach 100%... if not, you can opt to max it (i think it reaches 70% at lvl 20)

critical strike should reach lvl 6-8 at the very least for you to crit half of the time...

extra skill points could be invested in either penetrate or critical strike

wow..thanks on the quick run down for skills, yeh i was able to get my hands on a razortail, erm how do i calculate for pierce ? :P and how about stats? ive got 30 stat points to use, im lvl 72 now, and i just boosted up my dex and have yet to invest into vit. I was thinking 50 vit ????

i don't know the exact formula, but i do know that lvl7-9 pierce +razortail = near/max pierce... (EDIT: oh and lvl20 pierce gives you 85% chance to pierce, not 70% as I previously mentioned... my bad =P)

for as for your VIT, it's a matter of preference... it's a case of offense vs. defense (since points you put in VIT translate to less points in DEX)... I'd go for 80-100 base VIT or more if you need it...

I got base vit (~700 hp with gear) and I've never died despite -res on light and cold. :)

imo the best bowamazons are glass cannons --> no points in Vitality at all.

well as i mentioned, VIT is a matter of preference... not everybody can handle having no points spent in VIT... if you can then good for you... if you can't, spending a few points won't be a total waste...

ok so for skills i was thinking something like this

20 strafe
20 cold arrow
20 freezing arrow

8 critical strike
17 valkyrie
8 pierce

how does that look for a pvm?

If you are going the Frost Maiden path with low budget, the Mavina Set isnt bad. If not, try using Razortail belt. It saves you many points from pierce and still get 100% pierce(which is very good using freezing arrow)

yeh ive got the razortail belt, im thinking of 8 points into pierce?? i think mine is still lvl 1 but its lvl 5-7 cause of +skills from items

whats WWS? sorry im really bad when it comes to abbreviated terms in d2. So far ive maxed out my: Cold Arrow, Freezing Arrow and Strafe. Ive got that unique ballista buzuria, however you spell it..but i really liked the Lycanders bow cause of the +skills, cause it put my CA, FA, strafe to lvl 31 i think...without it, it goes to lvl 27 i think. Ive got an 15 ias jewel, should i add it to the Ballista? or Lycanders?

Since im going to pvm what items should i get? so far my items are:

Gaze
Skullders, and ive got shaftstop
Buzuria, and lycanders
War travs or Gorerider boots (i think thats what its called)??
Rare gloves (gives 20% ias and +2 bows/crossbow skills and other stats)
Manald ring
Cathans ring
Vidalas amulet :(

though shaftstop is for pvp should i use it instead of Skullders? ill hav to use gaze cause i dont have anything else :P.
