PvM Hybrid LF/Strafe build *UPDATED*

I am currently in process of finishing off a piece or two of gear before i build her. I have played off and on since release. This means i have seen all of the patches and miss .08 as much as everyone else. This build is ment for LF for cows and Baal runs in general because it allows for killing masses. I enjoy the ability to swap to a bow for multi and strafe. The old hybrid builds used max guided with some in multi. I have never maxed strafe or used it fully instead of guided...but that is really the only iffy thing in this guide. The rest of it seems fairly solid. This started out as me building a character and has pretty much turned into a character guide. let me know what you guys think!

Neck: Cat's eye, Atma's, highlords (what else would you recommend?)
Weapon1: 186% eth upp'ed titans
Shield: Phoenix or Dream (spirit'd monarch until then)
Weapon2: MB Faith (possibly windforce)
Chest: Dusk Fort
Gloves: Rare 20ias w/ knockback + leech and mods (hopefully)
Boots: 186% upped Gores
Belt: Nosforatu or high Thundergods
Ring1: Ravenfrost
Ring2: dual leech rare ring i have with 7ml/5ll + atk rating + mana (or Bul Kathos)

MERC (Act 2 Might Merc)

Head: Eth gaze??? (don't know what to put here)

There is my general setup at this point in time. I havent even looked at her IAS and resists at this point in time. I am guessing the IAS will be close to the 7 frame barrier, but resist will be low i think. I also have to look at her mana leech and consider using a different helm or amulet.

I have also considered an act 1 merc with my faith and using a Windforce on myself. I will try this out once i get my hands on a windforce. I have yet to get another fort, pride, and phoenix.

This takes you to CLVL 96. I am also not including charms. It would be nice to have a couple of each tree. Add in an anni and a torch and you could easily have +6 to all trees. This would allow you to drop some more points into Penetrate, Crit strike, dodge, avoid, or evade instead of many points into valk

Strength: ~75 (enough for gear...consider torch and anni for 25-40 stat points)

Vitality: ~100 (using 6-7 small 20life charms...should be atleast 900hp)

Do you absolutely have to have faith? I'd be very interested in trying this build, it would just be a struggle to get my hands on a faith, not to mention a few other runewords required. If you could make some cheaper suggestions I'd love to give it a whirl.

I made one on single player

upgraded wws will do well

Windforce is great

Faith is not an option for me :grin:

Armour - lionheart or fort both great imo

helm - tal helm

Shield - spirit/storm/mosers all good choices

gloves Laying of the hands are better imo

oh good, I found a wws the other night, also found a tstroke, have a spare spirit, and a tal helm (maybe), and a loh. awesome thanks I'm gonna make one. Should I bother looking for the titans, or am I good with Tstrokes?

Laying of hands is an iffy substitute from a good pair of rare gloves. a perfect rare pair of gloves is like 20 ias, 2 skills, dual leech, and knockback...i am sorry, but these beat LoF. Meanwhile, you could use cleglaws or LoF for sure, i just want to get a rare pair. In the meantime, i will be using LoF.

Another issue with the gloves potentially is mana leech. If you are using a faith and not a Windy, you lose mana leech. This can be made up a number of ways, but on my setup, i think i only have 1 ring that is 6% mana leech. That might not be enough for a base mana pool. It could take adjustment.

What other opinions do you guys have on this build? (gear, talents, and attr points)

I didn't have much time last night and just listed a few cheaper options quickly.

If you are going to be running pits i still think laying of the hands is better. You need around 6 ml and that is pretty easy to get from somewhere else imo as you said.

titans are much better due to the replenish quantity mod on them , i don't play on bnet anymore but i would imagine titans are not that expensive.

Attributes seems to be ok.

I did make my first hybrid amazon similar to this and she did well at running areas but didn't do as well against act bosses.

i am figuring between a merc (equiped well) and a valk, you can have good meatshields doing some decent damage while you sit back and strafe away. given, this might not be enough damage, but i was thinking it would be good.
you have to consider the 3 of us (me merc and valk) will have fanatacism, concentration, and might. that will make up for a good bit of the damage lost.

6% ml is all you need? I thought you needed close to 10. I will have around 4-6% in that build with a rare ring, but i personally would like to get around 8-10% to feel comfortable with a base mana pool.

I didn't me she couldn't tank bosses it was just to slow for me.

Remember also i play single player so high runes are very very rare :smiley:

Well 6 is just good enough but thats what mana pots are for :grin:
