Does the paladin or the barbarian have a higher possible defense? Estimates of both the paladins and the barbarians total defenses would be much appreciated.

Also, i know defiance synergizes holy shield, but can you have defiance attive while you have holy shield active for even more defense?

As far as estimate there was a barb defense thread a while back, but don't got link. I think the barb def was somewhere up around 150 K? I seem to remeber that #. And yes you can have defiance active while holy shield because hoyl shield doesn't have to be on your skill to be active. You cast it and it lasts for a period of time.:grin:

Highest possible defense char must be a palabear with exile. Holy shield skill,defiance aura and bear skill altogether.I think that iron skin/shout can't beat that.

How about a Palabear, wearing a perfect Stone in perfect Sacred Armour (that would be 2160 right there) with Holy Shield, Defiance and Werebear active, in a party with a Barbarian using Shout? Probably pointless, bescause the chance to be hit would probably be 5% anyway.

The Barb's max defense was 240367.

And then there is always the chilling armor prebuff from fortitude,but that's marginal when we are talking in hundreds of thousands of defense.

Killed by curiosity.

So, the base defense was 8919. Minus ~2 from the base strength of the Paladin = 8917. Adding the Exile vortex shield [eglitched] = 9554.

The modifiers would be:

Lvl 52 Holy Shield fully synergized [1090% ED]
Level 52 Shout from a barb friend [610% ED]
Fortitude weapon [200% ED]
Level 52 Defiance from a fellow pally [580% ED]
Armor shrine [200% ED]
Chilling Armor from Fortitude [215% ED]

9554(10.9 + 6.1 + 2 + 5.8 + 2 + 2.15) = 276,588
Even more...o_O

Base defense was 8917 and eglitched vortex added only ~600 more defense?How come? Eglitched vortex can have 1.8k+ defense.

True, but the defense of the base shield [a godly rare troll nest with two 30% Defense runes] was also taken into consideration...so the Exile Vortex Shield would have a ~600 net gain.
