[USEast SC L] Untwinked Thread

ok, so a group of us started an untwinked group on USEast SC Ladder and we wanted to make a community thread. So to avoid questions about what exactly untwinked means to us I created this thread.

If you're interested in joining please post here, I'll get back to you when I can.

Well, I decided to stop hijacking the OT thread on useast trade forum.

There's a group of us that for one reason or another have decided to play untwinked. Most of us are from that forum, although friends/family/random people have joined.

As far as I know we're taking any joiner that wants to, and here is an outline of what we mean by untwinked:

Make any character, any build you want.
No trading.
No help from anyone who has ever traded (and therefor could/would be twinked)
Very small amounts of muling to get eq u know someone needs to that person. 've decided to mule gems and runes because of their inherent endgame value. You can't very well throw any runes away if you hope to make a decent runeword or two.
Share and share alike. If you pick up something you need, use it, if you pick up something you don't need, drop it on the ground and others can go thru. If you know someone needs something you can try to save it for them or not, we have a couple mules for this purpose so you aren't wasting your entire stash helping others. Typically those who need gold will clean up the mess after a short while.
Play time is very limited for some of us, like weekends only or only an hour each night, so this project will not take over your whole life or all of your playtime if you don't want it to.
If you decide to remake the same build or try a different one, I won't tell you not to use the eq u already found, but try to keep in the spirit of things.

Oh yeah, you can run whatever the only stipulation we are making is to remove trading basically. so we give a lot freely and people can mule runes/gems as they want because stashes just aren't big enough. We're just not devoting accounts to eq storage or anything. For lots more details catch us online. *sinjen, *tfordnc3, *spiffymcbang2 are the publicly posted accounts tied to this group, I don't wanna post anyone elses until they do first. we're pretty spread across the board again, lvl 1 (you) to 59 now... hehe, well we have so many people the uppers (brad, emar, jeff, and myself) can catch the lessers up pretty easily in a couple sperate games if there are too many on.

player count up to 16... but 4 have been awol a week+

thanks that sounds great. I have been away from the game for around 9 months. And only kept one or two mule accounts alive in between my main account died when I forgot to keep fresh. But i have remade a barb last week to level 88 but that was with using all the old gear I saved. This seems like a great chance to have that old game experiance again. OK, so now I know what you mean by "untwinked". I'm interested but after I finish my new Sorc Build. I think when I do join, I'll play a summon nec. That's the best character for not needing godly items IMHO. Looking forward to it.

sorry for the long reply, got busy at home last nite. check out our thread on the communities forum for accounts of people to contact, alwys taking joiners. it's not like we're rule nazis or anything, any time u wanna go your own way you can, but make sure you read up on what we consider rules, specifically: no playing/getting help from characters that are/might be twinked (as in no pubby games except as number boosters where you're running in another area totally alone) i always mention this to people who are starting out with an already established untwinked character because no running with twinks isn't often considered... but at low levels so long as it's just exp it just saves an hour or two of rebuilding so make your own judgements and i'll not really mention it again :P

I want to make something cooky (...not cookie). so if you have any idea of what char class or type is lacking, i'll probably make one, just want to add some variety.

we have 1 amazon. 0 asns. 1 summon druid. 2 barbs. 3 or 4 paladins. 4 to 6 necros. and 4-5 sorcs. i think we could use a good wolf/bear or another tank of some sort.
most of us usually idle in op diabloii.net and i sometimes idle in channel untwink. so check either one out or just msg SaM as he is acting as coordinator usually. we have different groups of people that play at different times of the day/night due to work/class/scheduling differences. you can usually find someone on... check the other thread in the community forum i think there is an ongoing list of account names for you to add.

Nitefall. to message online you have to know either the char name or the account name of the person you want to message (called whispering).

with char name: type /w CharNameHere messageToPerson
with account name: type /w *AccountNameHere messageToPerson

so you just add the * to account names, thats why on these forums most people will write their account name with the * in front of it, instead of actually saying that its their account. the * is usually understood as signifying that what follows is the account.

So "/w" followed by a space, then "*" followed by account name, then another space, then the message - if you have their account name (which is almost always what someone will give you on these forums.

once you learn how to use your friends list, msging will be alot easier.

to add to your friends list, you must know your friends account name... not his character name

say for example, i wanted to add yuo to my friends list (known as F list) and your account name is *nitefall

I would type
" /f add nitefall "
to add you to my friend list. Then to msg everyone on my list i would type
" /f m whats up guys "

it is organized... easy to find some time devoting players on that first page, we point u there from here (we tried to have it all together but parts were deemed player matchup so we have part of it here)... then from there people will start adding u to lists... shrugs, it's no big thing, a lot of people have made similar comments but once u get going u find it really is easy this way.

Might not get much time on tonight, but if I do I'll have you f-listed and be looking for you. maybe grush or something, possbly look through some low level items.

Given any thought to the type of char you'd make? Just a note: we have a buncha pallys and sorces (go figure). couple zons (2?), 2 kicksins (but no claw or pure trappers), 1 or 2 druids that dont get used much, a couple babas, and a couple necros (I know 1 is psn and just starting to do revives, think there's a pure summoner but not sure). - just in case you want to add variety...feel free to make whatever you want.

Also, I agree with strike on the webpage business. when I first started here, I made a list of all the accounts and forum names and stuff, and I really dont use it (lotta trouble for nothing). just f-list whoever you can, and you quickly get to know the people that are on consistently.

You can keep up to date real easily by just reading the loooong forum every so often. I'd suggest just reading through all the day's new post after 5pm on weekdays (because most of the posting gets done while people are at work-there are rarely posts made over the weekend and after weekday work hours because everyone wants to get to playing at that point).

I wouldn't really recommend going through the previous posts though, because thats 60+ pages of posts, mostly dealing with finding items and outfitting chars, etc, so it would really be a waste of time.

I can give you some of the more consistently online accounts to get you started, so I wouldn't worry about searching around for them either.

Hmm I think ill do either a Trap Assasin(NEVER made one before lol ) to add some variety, a Sorc ( to do some kind of runs to gain items for group, am thinking Lightning as I have only made cold sorcs before), a Summon Necro( 'Tis my favorite build at the start of anything) or any other type suggested that is not already in the group but can at least kill alone.

to any of the recent joiners... track us down, it is very hard to weed out idle speculators from active interests and we do not check the boards once we start running for the night because just handling communication with 6 other people and running is all I can personally handle, most others probably agree.

Holy crap! How did I not post in this thread? LOL

I would like to offer up some advice for those thinking about joining our group. First of all, you have to accept the idea that a 1 hit kill in hell is probably not going to happen. You will also have to accept that the rest of your gear is not going to be primo stuff. Sure we run ubers, but there are about 5 or 6 of us in there and it is a total team effort. While others have said to not read the book in the community forum, i suggest it. It will give you an idea of what types of charaters are playing with what kind of gear. While we do share items, there are not enought of one type of item to go around. The only exception to this is pally spirit shields. Usually the group decides as a whole to determine where the item is to go. I have started up 3 different charaters within this group and all 3 are NM viable. Only the stupid arse druid is not hell viable alone. He is rather helpful in bringing the grizzly in as a tank, just dont expect it or him to kill anything any time soon. The other 2 charaters are very much hell viable with less than stelar gear.

This group focuses on group play more so than solo play. We are all about helping those who help others. So feel free to come along and see what we are all about. If you cannot find anyone to talk to, whisper me. *Monsinour

Best thing you can do is to check out the other book/thread (http://forums.diabloii.net/showthread.php?t=458974)and msg some one who has posted their account and express interest in the group. We would all be willing to help out as much as we can.
