View Full Version : Increasing Stafe damage?
I edited a strafer just to see how well it does in sp, and with a silence elite bow and maxed strafe, I do ~300 damage average. How would i get this damage up? I couldn't find anything in any of the guides
thanks for any help

Silence bow is about the worst you can do, its slow, its ugly, it just doesn't work, try a Faith since you're editing. Skills are worthless, focus on +dmg, edmg, elemental dmg, cb, ds, as much IAS as you can get (in fact mk the faith in a matri as opposed to a gmatron, the speed >>>> than the dmg on gmatron, especially pvm). So gills face, faith, fortitude, travs, any 20 IAS gloves, nos coil, atmas and 2 ravens, you'll be clearing hell chaos with no sweat. Also make sure you dump a few points (how many depends on how many +skills you have) in critical strike. Cheaper choices for a bow could include an upped shaeled riphook, wf (they're worth peanuts these days) and others.
EDIT: Might merc with pride is your friend :P

With my upped WWS, I do 398-48x or something, and it was pretty cheap there on that one.
I use Howltusk for the knockback and monster flee, and basically two Sols in the WWS, which makes it's displayed bow damage as 102-108 or something close to that one.
I have yet to add the fortitude when I get it, and I have a might mercenary but I forgot the damage with that.
Pride would be nice, but maybe a Faith mercenary might be better for reaching breakpoints once I get fortitude; not sure on that one there, but maybe on that one there.
Goooooooooooofy.

treachery armor will increase your damage in 2 ways (venom plus ias). i have a silence strafer and just love her.
a might merc would increase zons, mercs and valks damage, but for a silence bow i like a blessed aim merc, a harmony rouge (i think this is the one) will be benifitial too in adding damage and attack rate. but since i'm a ranged attacker i like to have a melee merc (for tanking), its just my play style. critical strike helps a ton too.
why a blessed aim merc? well 1st it increases your zons, valks, and mercs attack rate ( i like to have the highest chance to hit as possible because of the mods on the bow). 2nd if you use pierce you will hit more targets per strafe. 3rd it helps a lot with bosses.
I'm assuming that Stan is a single player, so suggesting ladder only runewords won't help him.
My Silence-zon was an .09 build and I had a blast playing her. I did play her a bit in 1.10. I tested all of my old builds at the start of 1.10 and she was the only one that held her own in the new game climate. She particularly shined in A5. Packs of Burning Souls, Gloams, Dolls, etc. "Silenced" with one strafe volley. Her damage wasn't great, it seemed like it took more than one shot to kill anything in Hell. That didn't matter, FA was her killing skill. The drill went, strafe/blind, freeze/kill, rinse and repeat. For Ci/Pi's it went strafe/blind,run (frenzytaurs) decoy/MA, r and r.
