Just found out that my buddy is making a venom and widow maker using assassin to duel against my barb. I've never dueled one before so I'm looking for some tips and maybe gear switch suggestions. Right now my barb is using a mid-level BvC set-up:
Grief+Beast
Fort or Enigma
Verdungos or Arachnid
Dracs
Gores
Arreats
Ravenfrost+Rare resist/life leech ring or angelic ring
Rare dual leech/strength/resist ammy or angelic ammy
I have a SS in stash and my inventory is about half full of random max/ar/life charms. This is ladder too by the way so getting the really awesome max/ar/life charms is beyond my budget. Also, this is my first barb so my stats aren't exactly the best. I put a little too much in strength so I only have a little over 4.7k life after my bo. Any help will be appreciated.

tele + ww = gg, he doesnt have a shield, if you really wanna have some fun, swap the dracs for death's gloves for increased psn resistance.

Tele ww isn't the choice for everything. A bow assassin will have lots of fr/w and if he doesn't put on that shield he's going to get pegged every time by lots and lots of poison damage that isntantaneously drops your life. Every arrow will hit. And if the assassin is any good he'll be shooting off screen so you can't tele ww him.
It's funny how they give you useless advice. Put a shield on, get atleast 50% block. They fire fast, and they do hit hard. No so much physically, but poison-wise. The assassin will probably have a venom pre-buff and a claw switch with blocking. Which will hurt your chances of hitting. Likely max dr, and teleport. So. Shield. I'm almost positive the assassin will have knockback, so if you find the arrows not damaging enough and no knockback you could simply run into range. If you get close enough the assassin will likely switch to claws and run, a lot faster than you can run or keep up. Ww isn't accurate against running opponents, and I'm pretty sure claw block has no run penalties.
One way you could look at it is equipping your own fort+widow and taking advantage of your high life and more damaging arrows.

From what I can tell from his build, it's not going be a venom prepuff(Or did you mean prebuffing with other items before switching to widow?), it seems like that will be his main killing skill, if I remember correctly. Also, I don't think that BoS and venom can both be active at the same time right? Your idea of using my widow and fort seems like a sound idea for now. Thanks for the tip, we will see how this all turns out. Any other tips?

He was referring to casting venom with other gear on for best effect. And yes, venom and BOS can be active at the same time - venom doesn't cancel anything out in 1.1x, only fade and burst of speed cancel one another out.
As to Kaython's comment regarding claw block while running, various tests have been performed by those on these forums. When running, you have zero claw block.

If a physical damage based assasin can kill a 4.7k life bvc, then OMG, doesnt that mean that a good bowazon can take every BvC out there ? :P

Im pretty sure the assasin will be poison based.
Bowassa stands no chance.
They lack the "good" things an amazon has.

I've seen such a duel before (I mean bvc vs bowassa). PsychoNight was right. This is a very simple duel. 10 frame fc is enough to catch a running assa. If you want to be BM use doom + beast and its game over.
You guys have obviously never dueled a good bowsin that uses traps to stunlock the barb, and 65 fc.
But your friend sounds new to it, so just use a carrion wind to stack your poison res, and kill him normally.

more like
leap + tele + ww = gg

so essentially
she's a trapper but with low trap damage
she's a physical attacker but with no shield
barbs can beat trappers
barbs can beat ww sins
this assasin seems to suck at both

IIRC max (zaiychek) managed to kill luis several times, and he beat the #1 bvb a few times as well on his kick/bow hybrid.
