Hey again, I'm trying to get a helmet to put a few topaz's in, but I can't find any socketed helms, is there a way to socket my own helmet, and if so how do i do it?

You can socket your helm in two ways:
1)Use the cube recipe: 1 Ral Rune + 1 Thul Rune + 1 Perfect Sapphire + Normal Helm = Socketed Helm of same type
2)Complete the first quest in Act 5 and have Larzuk put sockets into it

But choose a helm which can get 3 sockets. Check Arreat Summit or d2data for that, the links are in my sig. Regarding the Larzuk quest reward, choose a helm found in late act 1 nightmare or later (jail and beyond).

It'd really be alot easier to solo around in a5 normal looking for a crown than either of these, however, youll find one pretty easily and you won't waste a valuable quest reward.

I've finally used up all my lazruk quests in norm, NM and Hell on various uniques and set pieces. When you say the cube recipe uses a "normal" helm do you mean it won't work with uniques or set pieces? Is the lazruk quest the only option for those items?

Yes, the recipe only works for nonmagical items. It won't even work for cracked or superior stuff. You can socket ethereal items, however.

BTW, Larzuk will add the maximum amount of sockets on nonmagical stuff only (which might be superior). Magical items will get 1-2 sockets, randomly. As you might have noticed already, rares, set items, uniques and crafted items only get one socket from him.

ouch, so for every unique, rare, set item and crafted that I would like to socket something in< I need to consume on characters lazruk quest for one difficulty setting? There is no other way to socket these items?

I come across many 3soc helms [although none ever with enough mods to consider Delerium :( ], message me with your requirements etc. and if i come across something i'll fork it over. *LordOfFetch (EAST SC NL) I'm on more often than should be legally allowed, mostly mornings/afternoons.

The best way to get a 3-socketed helm in Normal is to shop an Artisanīs Great Helm from Larzuk. Character level 39 or more is needed for that.

(Larzuk also sells Crowns, but since the item level in act 5 Normal is capped at 45, those crowns canīt get Artisanīs)

Theres an insanely expensive cube recipe to socket rare items (it involves a SoJ,, I highly advise you never, ever do it) and several cube recipes that will produce (randomized) socketed magical items.

Set, unique and crafted items can only be done with larzuk - so yeah, don't waste.

If you play on bnet, of course, you can make chars to do the quest and basically have unlimited ones for relatively low time investment.

Thanks!

When you say relatively low time investment are you assuming the characters will be rushed to act V by someone else? Even with good gear I imagine it can take possibly hours to get to act V without someone to rush you given the need to assemble a horadric staff and later to assemble khalims will to say nothing of preperation to defeat all the various act bosses.

I wonder if I'll have to seriously curtail the amount of socketing I'd been planning on doing.
