i doubt it....those items aren't all that uncommon...
people only really dube HR's and SoJ's for the most part, amidst a few other godly itamz....
maybe he just had a lot of them and was making room...or he wasn't expecting someone to pick them up...i dunno why he would assume that though...but then again, b.net people are idiots
isn't there supposed to be malware that can cause victims to drop all their items?

Yes, but items are DATA, not CODE. There are fundamental difference in what the game reads, and what the game executes.
Those items are very common; I personally just leave them on the ground when they drop from monsters, except when I don't remember which unique it is - in that case I take it to town and have Cain ID it before selling to Charsi.
I used to have my mules full of stuff like this, and like the person you met, I just dropped them all in random b.net games.

anyway im was on HCL east.while to some those may be nice items to others they're rather junk. so they temporarily save them, and then go to games others are playing and leave them for them. this way others who have worse equip can use them on their chars.

Trang's Helmet? Souldrainers? Ravenlore? Steel Carapace?
You've never picked any of those up (ESPECIALLY on hardcore ladder) and kept them?

Hit the power strip switch. That's what I did.

What does that have to do with whether or not the items are dropped by a piece of software?

Didn't notice the Trang helm - that I'd keep & sell (as a full set), as well as a Ravenlore if it had near-perfect stats. Maybe. Others, no; they're not worth the muling work + inventory space to me. Don't play hardcore.

What does that have to do with whether or not the items are dropped by a piece of software?Data cannot be viruses, or trojan, or whatever. The game would not "execute" an item on your computer like a program, so it cannot make you drop all your items by you picking it up.

Oh, I don't think you understood what the other guy was saying - He thought that the person DROPPING the equipment had launched the malware, not that picking up gear can make you drop yours.
I thought he meant that the person dropping had been infected and a virus was causing his items to drop.
