Is there any build for any char that is not item dependant? And, of course, good enough to survive in Hell mode?

Skellymancer.

Mnimal + skills, a little bit of common sense & patience is all they require to get through hell solo.

What he said. And, +to skeletons and SM wands are fairly easy to find early on.

Skelemancer, or other forms of a Summoner, using the majority of the points into Summoning __(stuff)__.

Im not saying just for necro... For any char... Of course Necro and other Mage are not item dependant. But for a Paly, Barb item is a must?

ahh.. just one question.

In your title, it says "Item Dependant Build", but then... you're asking for a build that is NOT item dependant? Which one is it? >.<"

Not item dependant... Im sorry about my title. im just asking because the strat that I ve found here or anywhere picks some items that, in my opinion, is a must. The whole strat without the mentioned items is worthless in hell mode playing with /players 8. Im just asking if is possible a build not so item dependant that anyone can follow without spending months or years to play...
People mentioned casters but alone casters are not so much effective. If they need to fight close they die.

Well, from my D2 experience, I think casters, and Summoning Necros are the easiest characters to play with if you do not have the "top" gear. It's relatively easy to obtain high resists and decent damage on a caster than to do the same on a non-caster.

For a summoning necro, you will pretty much never die, except in extreme occasions. Max resists is easy to get for this character, and monsters shouldn't be able to get a good smack at you because of the twenty-ish tanks you possess.

I played a summoning necro at the very beginning when I started playing Ladder. Solo-ing hell without "top gear" was not difficult at all.

Wind druid/ Nec summoner/ Almost all sorcs/ Hammerdin (yes hammerdins, patriached one with mila weap + steelclash + tarnhelm + eye of etlich, the most expensive thing was vipermagi for 5pgs ) / Zeal-Fana paladins/ Zeal-HolyFreeze paladins/ Trapper assasins

true, until your skellies kill a cold enchanted critter and you are standing too close.or them little exploding critters.lost a 79 hardcore character in act 3 hell by standing to close to a doorway when one went off.goddarn little buggers.:grin:

Aww =(

But yeah... the thing to watch out for, would be to get maxed resists, as I said above. Melee monsters rarely get to smack you. It's the spells that "pierce" (Cold enchanted, Lightning, etc) that are deadly.
