View Full Version : A couple of questions
Hey,
I've just registered to this forum as i've been using this website since i started playing D2 for information.
Now, i just recently found a Gull dagger with 100% MF. Now what i was wondering is if i equipped it. Would i have to kill, for example, Mephisto WITH the dagger. Or can i have the Dagger equipped on me and just use Magic to kill him?
Sorry if it's a complete Noob question, but i'm new to the game.
And also, i've been wondering about that Tal set, as im a Sorc i wouldnt mind it. Does it drop anywhere? Or specific boss's?
Thanks in advance and im sorry if this has been posted before.

As to the Gull dagger, you need to make the killing blow with it for its 100% MF to count on Mephs kill. So if you kill with magic only you will not get the extra 100%, also you can use magic or some other weapon or attack type to brink Meph to the point of death and then switch for the last shot with the gull.
Hey,
Thanks for the reply, much appreciated. Guess i'll have to boost my Dex a bit more.

For weapon specific bonues found on weapons (ED%, IAS, AR, elemental damage etc..), you need to use the weapon to get the bonus. For all other bonuses on weapons (magic find, +strength, +life, etc...), just having it equipped is enough.
If you want to see drop odds on specific items from specific monsters, download ATMA from the single player forum.

If it was right, then the 50% MF on the Oculus would be pretty worthless. So long as you have your gull dagger equipped, you'll get the mf bonus.
Hey,
So, aslong as i have the Dagger equipped, i'll get the MF bonus if i kill things with Magic?

Hey,
So, aslong as i have the Dagger equipped, i'll get the MF bonus if i kill things with Magic?Yes. As long as you, your merc, or any of your minions make the killing blow in any fashion imaginable, then you will get the bonus.
If the gull dagger is on your hidden weapon switch, then you will not get the bonus.
Yes. As long as you, your merc, or any of your minions make the killing blow in any fashion imaginable, then you will get the bonus.
If the gull dagger is on your hidden weapon switch, then you will not get the bonus.
Ok, cheers.
I just Hit W to quick switch to do the killing blow.
Thanks again.

Than it must have changed at some point, because I remember that not to be the case as you put it...
:S
I'm confused.
Kill with Dagger? or dont.?

Kill with Dagger? or dont.?Kill with dagger.
Kill with dagger.
Well, kill with the dagger equipped yes, but not necessarily actually attack physically with the dagger itself. As long as the dagger is equipped on your current weapon slot, then any kill that you do (including those done with magical attacks, or those done by your merc) will use the MF bonus given by the gull dagger.

No matter how you kill your enemy, as long as the weapon is equipped when you deal the killing attack, you will get the MF bonus, as Orphan said. If it's in the weapon switch, it does not count as being equipped BTW.
Gorny, I assume it was one of your clones who made the postings, probably being created at a time when we all were still newbies :azn:
