View Full Version : Why do they leave?
So I'm in this big party of 6-7 players who get past the ancients and into the worldstone keep and then we kill all Diablo's minions. When this is done, and the portal opens to the Worldstone chamber, everybody leaves except three of us, who proceed to kill Baal.
So why didn't they want to complete the quest?
One more thing... the more the players, the tougher it gets. Right? So if there are two of us and the other guy leaves, does that mean that I have much harder monsters to kill? Or more of them? Does this hold in the whole game, or only in the area?
Thanks on beforehand for answers! :)

What difficulty was this on? Most likely, they did not wish to move onto the next difficulty level. Once you kill Baal for the quest, and move onto the next difficulty, you cannot see games of the previous difficulty. People generally wait until a certain level before moving on.

Yes, but only for the monsters that have already spawned. For example, if you're in the catacombs level 2, and someone leaves, then any monster that you have already got in on your screen with remain at their current strength, while any new ones that you meet will be spawned on the new player count setting (ie, player 1 in your example)
OK, right, so this happened in Nightmare, that explains it. (I am now in Hell for the first time! :wink3: ) And the same thing happened on Normal. Hm, I didn't know that you can't see a game on other difficulties; I still can create them, can't I?
But if you cannot see games on the previous difficulty, how then can I ever join cow level games???
Oh, the monsters are not spawned until I have seen them on my screen? (Or other players in my game have.) So if I move on in catacombs level 2 after my friend left, the new monsters will be easier.
A follow-up question (if you have patience): When there are many players: do we get more monsters or harder monsters -- or both?
monsters get 50% more life for every player entering the game.
if people leave the game and you move away from the monsters (so they're off screen), their hp will be adjusted to the actual number of players (not immediately though).
the monsters will be harder, but the amount is the same.
in a full game the monsters have 7x50% life bonus, which makes 350% bonus, so 450% life.
when the party is in a 2screen proximity, the monsters get damage boni.
don't know the actual numbers.

i used to help ppl level using baalruns. wat i dun get it is tht since i have already killed baal, then its alright for them to kill baal with me but they decide to leave. wonder why
most people just don't realize that the quest can't be completed.
when i participate in public hell baalruns i usually leave before baal (or look for runs without baal kill), because it's just a waste of time since i'm always to slow trying to pick up his goodies:-(

But if you cannot see games on the previous difficulty, how then can I ever join cow level games???You'll have to know the name of the game. This can either by done by asking someone in chat, or using another character that is in that difficulty to look at the game list.

don't know the actual numbers. Please state your source. I've seen some tests on this, but they were inconclusive.

im not sure thats quite correct, when i used my very weak sorc to kill meph, and i wrote ludicrous game titles like free hrs, i got meph about halfway before the game filled up, then i stopped hurting meph so much, then when they all left i hit meph again with about 1/5 health left and meph died.
