act 5 barb merc, what if?

just dreaming here. i was thinking about the act 5 merc (barb) which uses 2handed swords. what would he be like if he could use 2 handed maces and axes too. useing 3 pieces of the ik gear (mace, armor, helm) he would be wicked. or useing some of them big axes he would be devastateing. being limited to only useing 2 handed swords kinda takes away from his true potential, i think.

It's not in the same price league, but sticking an EBotD, ECoH and Arreat's Face on your merc is probably better than 3 pieces of IK. So it's not like it would transform that type of merc. As for more realistic equipment choices, a good rare 2H sword is just as nice as a good rare maul.

true but 3 pieces of the ik set will give you some nice bonuses too. plus 2 sockets in helm and maul that will make it that much better.

this post is just a "what if". if he could equip one of the unique or runeword maces or axes how would you set him up then? the different types of setups would be very interesting i think.

I've always thought it would be sick if a5 barb mercs would give you a good BO/BC/Shout and use cries like howl against enemies.:cloud9:
