I'm working on getting my paladin from level 95 to 96 at the moment, and have noticed a VERY large difference between the exp gained solo, and in even a three player game where everyone else is doing their own thing. I'm trying to figure out what would be the best way to work things, since it can be helpful to have others in the game to speed up runs, but.. I don't have any information on the matter!

Can anyone link me to the equation used in-game to determine the amount of experience gained per kill, and how it relates to people in game? If so, I'd very much appreciate it.

hey q...stole this from the AS

Monster Experience In Multiplayer Games
Monster Experience In Multiplayer Games Monsters' experience value and Hit Points will change with the number of players in the game. When more people join a game, the monsters become harder, and as they leave the game, the monsters become easier. For the ultimate challenge, fight solo against monsters on Hell difficulty in an 8-player game. In multiplayer, when a monster is created, its Hit Points are multiplied by the number of players in the game: (Life = Hit Points * (Number of Players + 1) / 2). The monster's base experience value is determined by the following formula:

Experience = X * (n + 1) / 2

X = base experience
n = # of players in the game

How I looked over that, I have no idea. Have any idea how that is affected if, say, there's 8 players in the game, but I'm running solo? Does the exp get spread evenly to everyone, and so if I were running solo I'd get all 8 players worth of exp?

Experience points would only be divided if you were in a party. In other words, if you were running solo in a full player game, you would get all of the exp for any kill that you do.

So basically, if you could join a game on Bnet where everyone was doing their own thing and took on Baal by yourself you'd get a WHOLE lot more XP than if everyone was in the throne room with you?

Based on my understanding of the experience points process, yes. Basically, the base experience points that a player earns is divided by the sum of the levels of the other players in the area (which, from what I remember, only happens if they're partied).

I usually unparty when baal killing if I'm in a party with lower level chars. And yes, baal gives it all to me, even if there are others there, provided I get the kill. (And I usually do)
