Didn't find any thread in which this was fully explained, parts are scattered all over this forum, so I thought lets make a guide  Credits go to all people who tested and explained, I just compiled the information. Sorry for any spelling errors  Any suggestions/corrections welcome!

1. Things that effect poison dagger
2. Effects explained
3. Formulea

1. Things that effect poison dagger
Poison Resistance
Poison Length Reduction

-Enemy Poison Resistance
+Poison Skill Damage

2. Effects explained
Poison Resistance
As any resistance, it reduces the total damage by Poison Resistance in %
Capped at -100% and 75-95%
Poison Length Reduction
Reduces the length the poison has effect
Capped at -100% and 75%
-Enemy Poison Resistance
Lowers the enemy's resistance AND the enemy's poison length reduction
Capped at -100%
+Poison Skill Damage
Increases poison damage by %
No cap, does not effect length

3. Formulea
Total Poison Damage
Damage of all Charms / Number of charms = Damage added to PD
Length of all Charms / Number of charms = Length added to PD

If you somehow get Venom, the formula becomes:
Damage of all Charms / Number of charms = Damage
Length of all Charms / Number of charms = Length
(Damage / (Length *10)) * 4 = Damage added to Venom
Venom damage + Poison Dagger damage = Total damage
0.4 seconds + Poison Dagger length = Total Length

Total Damge * Total Length = Total Poison Damage

If you have no charms, skip that part.
Charms mean + poison damage ones.

Damage Aplied to target
(Total Damage * XvX) * (1 - Resistance / 100) * (1 - Poison Length Reduction / 100) = Total Damage Done over Duration

XvX Table can be found here (http://users.tkk.fi/~tgustafs/damagereduction.html)

Damage per second
Damage / Duration = Damage per second

Damage per frame
Damage per second / 25 = Damage per frame

Resistance
Enemy Resistance - [All -Resistance you have] = Resistance

Poison Length Reduction
Penalties are: -40% NM -100% Hell
-Enemy Resist also reduces PLR

Enemy PLR - [All -PLR you have] = PLR

One stab PK
Enemy Life * 1,83 * (1 + Resistance/100) * (1 + PLR/100) = Damage needed for one stab PK

1,83 = PvP penalty

If you feel there is anything missing, incorrect or whatever, feel free to slap me.

Damage Aplied to Target and One Stab PK are wrong. I'm doing more calculations now, I'll post the results when I'm done. *Slaps himself*

link to Darnocpdx's guide which is pretty good.

It gives you pretty solid idea of how to build a Daggermancer, and with the Tao of Poison can be used to garner a good deal of knowledge.

Conclusion

Even with Death's Web equipped the Zombie's resistances would've been in the positives still (25%), and the length was multiplied by 1.5. This is very very very odd. I would've never expected the actual ITEM MOD to be responsible for the increase of length, but I suppose this is why I spend hours upon hours doing these tests.

This test shows that +poison skill damage increases length. However:

Summary/recap:

+%psn damage increases dmg but leaves length alone; i.e. trang's gloves.
-%psn res increases length but leaves shown dmg alone althought that too increases; trang's shield with 2 other parts.

I can't do testing right now, cause my d2 cd broke  but got the correct formula for Damage Aplied:

(Damage per second * XvX) * (1 - Resistance/100) = NDamage per second
Length * (1 - PLR/100) = NLength
NDamage per second * NLength = Damage Aplied to Target

I've come to the conclusion that with the One Hit PK it would be a really long formula, so for now just forget that it ever existed

This test shows that +poison skill damage increases length. However:
Dweb does not have any +poison skill dmg, unless you have socket it w/ facet, however it does come w/ a handy -40 - -50 to enemy psn resi:prop: , so both posts are correct:thumbsup:.

I know, but Necrochild313 was wearing bramble at the time. It would be to long to quote the whole piece. The test showed that +poison skill damage mod from bramble (50%) was added to the duration (duration * 1.5) sorry for any misunderstandings caused by this. Anyway, the links you gave helped a lot  and you probably misread. I was talking about poison length. The damage calculation with +damage and -resist is easy. When poison length comes into play however, the calculations get a lot harder. The thing I now need to know for sure is in what way poison length is influenced: - Enemy Resistance OR + Poison Skill Damage OR both. Once this is clear, I can make all calculations correct and any poisoner will be ready to go

Besides all the technical details (thanks for this thread btw. It's great.)

I think that the P.Dagger Necro has got to be one of the most fun and crazy characters to play in this whole game. Who wouldn't love cursing a group of monsters running up behind them with a huge knife, and stabbing them in the back one at a time then running away and watching them suffer and die. Pretty sweet? yep.

My test showed that neither +Poison Skill Damage or -Poison Res increased length.

Then be so kind as to post the results of your tests. I’ll refer you to the tread in the stickies for a good way of going about this.
