Hello. im building a Max Block ES Sorc and wanted to know what sheild to use. The candidates are:

1. Sanc Tower sheild = 68 all res + FHR + others
2. Spirit Monach = ok res, +3 all skills, +1xx to mana (Huge considering after bo, soj's, frosties), Huge Strength requirments tho.
3. SS / Whistands = Good blocking. Not really needed with ES ?

I was leaning towards spirit but was a little conserned on how much dex i would need to get max block. Opinions needed.

depends i think. if you are a ES pvp sorc who fights melee opponents, get a SS with eld rune and attain max block.

alternatively if the next opponent in pvp ur facing is a caster, be sure to stash a spirit monarch.

i think u need about close to 200 dex to get max block with a whistans? not too sure though..

Whith a eld'd whistans its 159 dex @ lvl 90. Is the extra strength (from 75 to 156) really worth it ? Not to mention the extra dex.

if you are on ladder, an upped eld'd viscerants is a very nice blocking shield (79%).

btw: max block with a spirit on a lvl 90: 337 dex.
lvl 75: 283 dex.

never ever ever ever look to try to block with spirit, or lidless.

Who needs realy full block in PvP? The most troble comes from fire sorc, trapers and ww/kickers.

Spirit only has +2 skills..

If you're going to be dueling, use spirit for most classes, and stormshield in your stash. They both have the same strength requirement, so why not have both? =P

Just a bit concerned about your FCR without the Spirit though.

OK. This is for legit duels. But what can you do in puby duels, when you find yourself in Blood Moor against FB sorc, Windy, BvC Barb and Traper. You must have most universal setup to survive many attacks and have some luck to kill others.

It's very anoying when you prepare your setup against barb go to duel and die from Fire sorc coz of luck of fire res, for example.

ww/kickers: yeah... you'll need block.

Windys: Seriously? You get hit by these guys?

BvC Barb: Uh yeah.. you're going to need block.

FB Sorc: Its a simple switch of a shield if you want. However, resists isn't as beneficial for an ES sorc because your mana goes down really fast anyways.

There was a thread not too far back that delt witha 200 fcr/ max block/ es sorc and it was decided, assuming you so desired it, that a eld'd lidless was the ideal choice. But if you want a es/max block sorc and have no real desire for 200 fcr then a 105 set up like the ones previously discussed will be you strongest and best options.
