Sword/Shield Viable in PVP?

If so anybody got any links to a good Sword/Shield build?

I had a level 88 ebotd cb/ ss barb, and he seemed to work pretty good. I heard that axes have better damage and are faster attack. so i rebuilt my barb, got ebotdz(erker) and am pretty happy with my new barb. Not to say my old barb wasn't good, but you might run into some pvp problems that would have been fixed if you had used axes. so summed up, yes you can do swords, people do, but axes are better in general, and you will probably end up winning a bit more in pvp. (You are talking about ebotdz versus ebotd cb right?)

I think its Steel Rends you are talking about, not hellmouth(hellmouth sucks like whoa). I had a pretty good PVP shield/sword barb as well. The items are pretty much same as listed by HaLoPhReAk, except I made sure I had max block with Angelics on for BvB and other high def chars. For Casters I usually used Wizspike(um'ed for open wound) on the other hand lol, it worked pretty well.

I'd think shield is a must for any melee character that wishes to uhm win against other melee characters. I'm pretty sure cb's have a higher minimum and a lower maximum right? Or am I wrong? Well, most people go axe for the beastz. But, sword looks so much cooler. And a sword/shield should wipe the floor with a Ebotdz/beastz. From what I've seen in an slg tournament.

Berzerker axes have a better damage to requirement ratio and can be made into considerably more runewords then swords.

if you do mele duels there is no sence to go with highlords and ravens because your oponents will have >7.5k def. there fore you will need higher ar to hit them. this can be achieved by use of angelic rings and amulet + enchant from demonlimb.
now your ar will be at least 15 k,depending on your charm selection,this means you will be hitting alot.

shield is not really necessary in melee duels except in bvb vs bvb duels. any decent bvc can deal with almost noproblem with any melee char except bvb.

Use EBOTD colossus if you think you're going to switch from one handed to two handed at any point. Zerk axes have a bit better one handed average damage so that is recommended in pure BvB duels. It's really not too big of a difference really... Check out Grief weapons too.

High Flyer, using ebotd gives you 30 to all attributes (duh) making it pretty easy to get 75 block%, as for who said that ebotd cb/sheild could beat an axe barb... i'm willing to take that bet, US WEST NL *impulsepainter over this weekend

the reason why ppl tend to use is axes is becasue axes have much lower requirements to there equal counter parts, i.e Ba Vs Cb, with less stats being spent in dex and str this will alow the barb to put more stats in vita where its needed most. Secondly the higher 1 hand dmg is in favour of Axes. Also A wider range of runewords can be made in axes, i.e Beast etc, and beast can not be made in sword.

The only good things i see swords have is style also u can turn most like the cb into a 2 handed weapon.

u could use botd to get to the block mark but in general Grief is the better weapon for pvp and obviously bvb.

Why would you use a collosus blade 2 handed?
Against melee you need block, against casters dual weilding is much more effective.

I personally have a friend who uses a Death Collosus sword/ ss and though he may be slow as hell ww'ing lol he wins his share of fights, to my surprise lol. I think if i was to ever make a sword pvp baba id make a Grief Zweihander just so i can say 'Zweihander pwns u!!!' :grin:

Pvp swords barbs dont suck, they do alright, its just axe babas excel further than they do most of the time.

PvM say key running, baal runs, and helping out or soloing in the portals to get body parts.
