anyone experiment with leap with builds?

and what i mean by that is, has anyone used leap for the stun effect to support the main attack? like berserk, or concentration for example.

i was thinking of making a concentration/berserk barb' with leap to stun (this btw ofcourse is for pvm). 'thought it would be interesting to play and maybe original. skill layout might be something like; 20 bo (synergy to concentration aswell), 20 leap, 20 wm (weapon mastery), 1 concentration, rest into berserk.

would it be viable? am i insane? let me know! :grin:

That's the basis of every anti-caster pvp barb build these days: leap in place to stun, teleport to the enemy, and whirlwind through them. It works better with whirl than other skills, since whirl is a fast, mobile, multi-hit attack.

i think you guys misread, i said pvm, but that's cool. can the bvc build you guys are talking about be effective pvm aswell? even without teleport? (would their be a point then?)

Isn't the main point of it to stun for a very brief period of time? IMO this would be close to useless for pvm, especially with using bezerk or conc(or somthing besids ww, were it still wouldn't be effective in pvm). You just dont get an effective amount of stun time.

In a pvp instance, it wouldn't be as useful as something like howl or warcry, which would be more effective. It's nice for mobility, but Leap Attack trounces it there, so it's only real application is PvP.

Sorry about the confusion, I just thought you were asking if there were any builds that used it for that effect. But yes, PvP barbs are great in PvM as well.

for pvm you dont really need leap , just enigma, arreat, dracks, gores or trecks,highlords, rings dep on the situation, ebotdz.

He's asking if you CAN do it though - sure you can! If you really want to make a Frogarian (or "Booyaka" barb, as I think I remember one off-forums guide calling it), you can go for maxed Leap and maxed Leap attack, then find a giant 2-handed to slap monsters with. You'll be a one-hit kill character, and it will take a lot of hopping around before you kill a screen full of monsters, but you'll look entertaining and you'll be one of the more original builds out there. I'd suggest throwing on at least one point in War Cry to prevent yourself from getting too mobbed to hop, and away you go! :prop:

even if you go standard ww build but put more points in leap it will be useful for baal runs if you tele for example. Leap is great to clear dirty tps because of the knock back effect. I used this alot when i was lvling my barb

well, janusjones, you've convinced me.

looked up for that "booyaka" guide and found it. already started playing and having lots of fun. believe it or not, but it's actually not bad pvp. i got a little bored of leveling and decided to hop onto (bad pun) a dueling game and leap really leaves players vulnerable. has to be close range but it works and is effective. just takes some practice. :smiley:

I have a Classic barb I'm maxing leap to use against casters. When I play solo in Hell CS(wht classic players do) I use it to jump on Oblivion Knights. I leap and switch to WW mid-air. If I'm not IMed meanwhile I ww thru the bugger. If he curses me I use Berserk instead. I found it to be more suitable than Warcry in this situation, as you don't take hits while closing your distance to the enemy. For party play though, the knockback effect can be annoying.

I like to have a nice high level leap on Bvc's, classic and lod. And yes Bvc on classic is way diffirent to speeder/bvs... the stun + triangle wwing with 2X naga can be insane :p
