1)tesists
2)reduce damage from % absorb
3)reduce damage from straight absorb
4)healed from total absorb
5)take damage that is left over.

Exeample:
1000 fire damage, 75% resists, 20% fire absorb, 40 straight fire absorb.

1000 damage goes through resists first:

1000 * (1-.75) = 250 damage through resists.
Then we calculate the % absorb amount:

250 *.20 = 50, so 50 absorb from %.
250 - 50 = 200, 200 more damage left.
Then we calculate the straight absorb amount:

200 > 40, so 40 straight absorb.
200 - 40 = 160, damage left.
Total absorb amount: 50+40 = 90.
Total damage amount: 160.

The character is first healed 90 damage, then receives 160 damage.
If the character is at max life, or less than 90 from max, they are healed to max life and then take 160 damage.

If that's not clear enough, try a search of the statistics forum.

Hey thanks for this information. I always thought absorb and P/MD deduction were deducted before resists. Did this change in the 1.11 update?

Also, do you know of any data source that lists monster spell damage. All I can seem to find are melee damage (or is this also spell damage)

Thanks

1)tesists Ummmm .... that's a new one on me! :point: :badteeth:You don't remember tesists? I'm shocked. Well, I guess I should have expected it from someone who stopped playing D2 back like 4 years ago.

p.s. Am I allowed to nest my quotes on these boards? That seems to be turned off by default.

Baal Inferno does double the dmg listed, can't remember if there were any other hitshift errors in those early monster stats.

I have a .txt file with melee/ranged dmg for act 1 - 4, but if I were to link it here, it wouldn't be downloadable for long with a 600k filesize. So instead, hope your German is still decent and click here (http://d2wissen.d2chars.de/). (The forum there is dead. Hard to compete when dead.)

I think this changed in 1.10 (or was it earlier?). Before that, the DR/MDR used to take effect after resistance. At the same time, the penalty for PvP was moved to the very beginning of damage modification from the very end. Absorb has always been after resistance though and in the current order.

I totally dug the Angriffsgeschwindigkeit und Zauberrate section. Very well written.
