Why do I always get just as good of runes from nm forges as hell forges?

It seems to me that I have gotten just as good of runes from nm forge as i have from my hell forges. Is this true or is it just my luck? I believe it is luck that i always get a pul or higher from my nm forges. Even when i rush people i get good runes. I must have gotten about 15 puls and ums from my nm forges. With such a high demand for semi-high runes for ladder runewords its easy to get the gear you want. This is how i got my wealth on ladder. Even when people scam me out of rush its fine cause its always worth my time in the long run. Im not good enough to rush hell so i dont get many runes from hell. I always get just as good runes. Ive gotten an um and a lum rune. To me thats just as good as nightmare forge.
Why rush hell when nightmare is easier and you get just as high of runes?:grin:

Hellforge drops:

Normal: El - Amn
Nightmare: Sol - Um
Hell: Hel - Gul

You must be pretty lucky if you somehow consistently pull in the Highest 2 NM Forge Drops (nothing below Pul??)

Anyway, Gul is the highest Hell can drop. Gul, Ist and Mal are all considered HRs on L East, whereas 3-4 Puls = HR. If NM is considerably faster stick with it, however hell mode can drop 'HRs'- considered based on US realms.

As an aside my last 4 Hell mode Forges (on my characters) have been Guls. In the long run that's a better payout than 4 puls and equal in value to 4 Ums (2x Mals = 2x Vexs)

Do whatever works for you. People may be less inclined to skip out on NM forge before the rush is over, when compared to Hell mode.

Its been this way for a long time. I have one question about the drops. Is the rune randomly selected or is it harder to get higher quality runes?

All drops are random you have equal chance of um, pul or dol dropping

I've done 4 ladder Forges in the last few weeks and the results have been odd. NM: Um, Um, Pul, Um. Hell: Io, Hel, Io, Fal.

So, yeah, I LOVE NM runs. :)

i'm just gonna start rushing friends on non ladder since no lvl restrictions for quests and just farm forges tehn convert a mule with all the runes to ladder and cube them =D

anyone know if power leveling still works on non ladder? like back in teh day you could get to hell cows and just sit near portal n get a lvl every 10 sec.. thinking for leveling my rusher toon

Did you mean to say classic instead of nonladder?

Aren't there no runewords in Classic, being that there are no runes? So where does that leave you with Hell forge rune farming? Just a thought.

u used to back in the day have a regular LoD toon, when ladder came out you could convert to ladder, or am i wrong with taht too, that was just conversion from classic D2 to expansion? i cant remember was soo long ago.

so what yoru basically telling me the premise of farming and converting is not a possibility..

i'll hafto relay that to a friend of mine who has a 70 somethign necro and a 60 something sorc he's leveling with the intent of forge farming

There's no converting to ladder. You can make ladder characters, yes.

Converting occurred when Xpac came out. You can convert from Classic to Expansion, but I believe they end up on NL (I may be wrong about that). If you want to try and farm in Classic be my guest. As I said a Fully geared sorc is decked out in Tarn, dual SoJs, and maybe Shard or Gull. If your gear is on Expac, stick with Expac.

There is a guide about hellforge rushing in classic somewhere on these boards. I don't feel like searching for it right now.

The gist of it, is that you rush in classic ladder up to hell act 2 then convert to the expansion. Since you're on classic ladder, you'll convert to expansion ladder. Then you finish the rush and get your hell hellforge. You also go back and get your nm hellforge.

I do not know about power leveling in classic. For classic specific questions, try the classic forum.

Well you rush them to act 4 in classic, it's fairly easy - I do it with a level 66 blizz sorc and then convert to expansion.
