Im kind of having a hard time figuring this out.

I downloaded Dk's Max block calculator provided on the home page.

Hoz = 75% chance to block
Maxed holy shield (level 46 with bo) = +39% chance to block
total block = 114%

Right now my hammerdin is at level 98. With 114% chance to block and level 98 entered it says I need 143 dex for max block. Which imo is wrong. Right now I have 136 dex with full gear and I have 74% max block. I doubt I will need 6 more dex points for 75% max block. When I level to 99 I plan to have 10 stat points to play around with. Well in reality it will be 5. 5 would be from leveling and 5 from a 20 stat torch whenever I get one. I dont think I need to put in anymore points into dex when I get the 20 stat torch. In fact I may have overdone it by 2 or 3 points.

I guess what im trying to say is can someone help me out to find the correct dex needed for max block with hoz and a level 46 holy shield at level 99? All the forumlas I have tried come out at the 143 dex needed for max block at level 98. which is wrong! And it will be wrong for when I get to level 99. Unless im doing something wrong in the calculations.:soapbox:

Even that seems off. it says I need 94 dex at level 99 for max block.:undecided:

ok well heres what I got

I presume if I entered everything correctly it says I need 94 more dex to get max block? which is no way thats right.

And to prove that what im saying is true heres a screenshot of my char stats

eventhough I need to level to 99 still i dont think 143 is accurate.

i think your problem is your base shield blocking isn't 75%. I think it's 52% going by arreat summit's claims. I think the next level down includes +blocking magic bonuses that would be on the shield?

i'm not really sure though, don't take my word for it...

Total block = (shield block)*(dexterity-15)/(clvl*2)

75 = (121)*(dex-15)/(99*2)

75*(99*2) = (121)*(dex-15)

14850/121 = dex-15

dex = 122.73 + 15

dex = 138 (rounded up) @ clvl 99

Edit: as pointed out, the true blocking on HoZ is 82%.

Well thanks for your help that makes more sence, but theres no need to be rude it was a simple mistake. I went by what the chance to block on the shield said.. 75%. I didnt know the "true" block was 82% My math wasnt the problem it was the block of the shield.

By the way, I know what you did wrong with the calculator. You entered "+114%" in the "total+ to blocking" since you're only supposed to enter the holy shield block bonus there, which is "+39%" in your case.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to be rude. HoZ is in a Gilded Shield which has a base of 52% CtB, and HoZ adds 30% CtB, for a total of 82% CtB.
