So... Strafe/FA zons are viable in classic!

I made a thread a while back, saying how she was started, well now she is almost complete and is pretty deisel, definately the most flexible zon ive ever made in classic

Twitch
Full itharas set
1xx ar dual leach fr ring other mods
1xx ar mana leach 30 fr 30 lr ring
30/10 3x lr dex boots
79 dmg 20 ias 26 fr double bow

Stats: 58 str after gear
150 base vita
Rest to dex (~3xx)

Skills:
20 strafe
20 FA
1 valk and presquites
~10 to pene, pierce, n crit strike
~16 cold arrow

Once cold arrow is maxed ill work on the passives to up my strafe some more

85 fr + lr, cr n pr are posotive
700ish life
shes fast as hell!

300 listed strafe dmg (2 fpa makes up for it) 4.5k ar
1k cold dmg on FA, 400 physical, 9k ar

Well... i wasnt quite sure she would work out at first but so far im pleased with her progress

General strategy is to kill with FA, stand back, valk tanks, strafe to fill up the bulbs and kill cold immunes (machine gun!)

when i read the title to this thread the first thing i thought was "well duh!" of course an fa/strafer is hell viable...and it doesn't require uber expensive gear either...a fast bow couple with good playing strategy and a well planned build and you are good to go...but then now that you have built one i think i am preaching to the choir.:thumbsup:

a couple things to keep in mind...the higher the pierce with fa, the better(more splashes)....there is also a display glitch with listed a/r for zons elemental attacks...the bonus is still not applied when calculating the chance to hit.

there is one thing i don't get...i'll quote you and maybe you can explain further

i bet that you will start to see a noticable improvement in her performance as you gain the next few levels...that extra dex is sweet.

do you mean that you will start to pump points into pierce, penetrate and critical strike to improve the performance of your maxed strafe?

How do you level up? Leach in hell cs or actually get your hands dirty and kill some things.
I hate leaching and being helpless but I was thnking of making a zon but I always believed they could only leach and not kill or atleast kill effectivly.

on Uswest ladder hardcore we have a level 84 or 85 now amazon who has never been in any CS run i've ever seen, I only see him soloing games. that's pretty effin hardcore in my book. character name:

Yup i mean ill be improving crit/pierce/pene

@diabloavenger: In the fast paced cs runs w/ all high level dins i mainly leach, get a few kils with FA and provide some tanking w/ valk/decoy and freeze the seal packs, which the party appreciates, strafe is mainly to leach in these runs

In nub cs runs, she actually kills and is a valueable asset to the cs runs. Ive soloed cs once (1 player game) but it took pretty long, more for fun. Flayer i kill very fast so thats a good way of leveling

A lot of comments on the 2 fpa strafe, only -10 base speed bows can acheive this... and gothic bows are obviously more popular...

What order of the skills did you choose to max first/put to a certain lvl because there is alot of skills this zon needs to be good and I dont know which skill to start with

I guess so.

@Zodi: i have 1 point to each, and its enough. More pnts is bad for strafe lock, especially at 2fpa. With close to 2k life after bo, 85 fr/lr and 50% r/w, along with valk + decoy and insane leach, more into dodges isnt nessecary (and skil pnts are tight, i need more dmg! :P)
