Amulet VS Fire Sorcs: Noko or Rising Sun?

OK, maybe this doesn;t belong in the barb section.. but I just want a quick answer.
I'm trying to minimize the damage that a fire sorc friend of mine does to my barb..

So an obvious choice would be 2 dwarf stars, hotspurs and either a Nokozan Relic or a Rising Sun.

What I would like to know is how exactly does Rising Sun work? Absorbs 74 dmg seems kinda useless if she has a 10k dmg fireball.. but I'm missing something, aren't I?
Which would be more useful? 95% fire res, or 90% fire res + 74 fire dmg absorb.

Well, let's see this. I assume you use hotspurs already, and that the FB'er does ~20k dmg.

Rising Sun+Hotspurs+2x Dwarfstars:
(((20 000*0.17)*0.1)*0.7)-(67*2)=
((3400*0.1)*0.7)-134=
(340*0.7)-134=
248-134=
104 final FB dmg.

Nokozan's+Hotspurs+2x Dwarfstars:
((20 000*0.17)*0.05)*0.7=
(3400*0.05)*0.7=
170*0.7=
119 final FB dmg.

But With this setup you will have too low fcr or mana (trangs+arachnid=~500 mana), so I suggest you play without Dwarfstars, and that's where Nokozan is superior.

(3400*0.05)*0.7=
170*0.7=
119 final FB dmg.

NP, have done the Rising Sun vs Nokozan a few times already, and without Dwarfs Nokozan is always superior, unless crap dmg FB.

As a follow up from that, maybe someone can work this out for me (I really don't understand how these res/abs formulae work):

Which is more effective for a level 90 barbarian against a 15k Blizzard, or a 1k Forb:

Stormshield with UM
or
Blackoak Luna with THUL
