Hello, I tried to do a search on this but kept getting page can't be displayed, so I had to post.

Basically I am making a Meteor sorc who is going to need to be able to take a lot of hits from enemies. I plan on letting enemies come to me and then dropping the meteors on their heads. Before anyone says this sucks, I making it to have fun in PvM, not PvP or fast MF runs.

So what would be better for this type of Sorc, Frozen/Shiver or Energy Shield? I figured the frozen/shiver would be nice because it freezes enemies which would give me more time to drop meteors. But I know that Energy shield can absorb most of the damage.

Can anyone help me to decide who has tried something similar?

I know this is not what you asked, but why not let the enemies go to your MERC instead?

i actually use chilling armor on my blizzard sorc but that is only because it is granted thru a yellow orb that im using right now but it works great against ranged attackers...........if u are gonna use energy shield you are gonna need an extremely big mana pool and probably maxed out telekinesis will help so that is a lot of extra skill points in tele and stat points in energy

I have a meteorb sorc that functions sorta like a tank in PvM too and it works well. What you need is to have max block using stormshield. The 35% dr with max block will help you tank alot of stuff in addition to using a merc. I dont use any type of frostarmor since it doesn't really help that much. This build might require alot of dex but it's worth it if you realyl need a sorc that can take hits.

Also, energy shield isn't really needed for this build, and you should only invest points into it if you are going to put points into telekenesis too, otherwise your mana drains way too fast and it does not help.

If you are going to let monsters swarm your sorc, you are going to get her killed, armour or not.

Your merc is your tank. Give him good gear (PDR, life leech, resists), and he should manage well as the monster magnet while you rain meteors on top of him.

If you intend to use Stormshield with max block, you will be able to tank, but again, it is better for the merc to do that, although you can also act as a secondary tank, taking the pressure off your merc.

I do not bother with the cold armours. The defense increase is not massive; not even with Shiver armour. You will still get hit frequently with the armour active. That is why Stormshield is best if you must tank.

If you insist on going with a cold armour, go with Frozen armour. It freezes non-CI monsters for a split second in Hell, which can be a life saver. Shiver armour only chills, and the extra defense it gives is not significant.

Personally, I do not bother with either. I'll go with max block with Stormshield. I can tank, block and take reduced physical damage. If you meet the 63% FCR, you will be able to tele continuously and will only get hit if you tele into a pack of extra fast, fanaticism packs; and that is where max block and PDR comes in.

Don't even bother with ES with a Meteorb. Your mana will empty in 2-3 hits, and with no mana, you're a sitting (and soon to be dead) duck.

Yeah, no matter your stats or protection, you'll die super-fast in hell.

Use your merc as a tank and/or spam glacial spike inbetween meteors to freeze enemies in place.
